I was thinking grebe, but it was just a vague recollection, because my mom is a birder.  I didnt think I was actually right.

Why are people disappointed at not being able to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a passport office?  That does not sound fun or interesting in any way at all.  Bureaucracy groupies? ;)

Joking aside, the soap idea sounds and looks feasible.  It seems like there is some white residue on the item too.

A fly-swatter for really tough jumbo-sized flies. ;)

Just go really fast so you jump right over all the ditches, a la Dukes of Hazard. ;)

That would be great.  I have to travel back & forth on 128 every day to commute to Williston.  The heaves have gotten pretty nasty over the last couple months especially.

Political Issues/Comments / Re: Doyle Survey At Town Meeting
« on: February 24, 2011, 12:09:45 PM »
I would definitely vote Yes.  I believe terminally ill people should have the right to die when and how they want, if they choose to do so.  The less government intrusion into peoples' private lives (or deaths), the better.

Edit - on the other questions my opinions are:

The House and Senate Judiciary committees are looking at a variety  of ways to reduce drunk driving in the state. Doyle wants to know if the public  supports giving repeat offenders a mandatory minimum jail sentence.  Yes

This year's survey also asks if Vermont Yankee's license should be  extended.  No.  Decommision the plant and build a new nuclear plant at the same site using 21st century technology.

If the state's bottle bill should be expanded.  I'm not famliar enough with the details to have an opinion.

If drivers should be prohibited from using cell phones while operating a vehicle.  Yes

General Discussion / Re: seasonal sidewalks
« on: February 08, 2011, 01:09:05 PM »
If there was a sidewalk in front of our house, it would have been buried in about 5 feet of compacted snow from the plows.  I'm glad there isnt one...  I would not support such a regulation requiring homeowners to clear them.  That is not feasible or sensible.

Corrupt, lazy, and incompetent?  ;)  The part I work for has elements of #3, at the least.

You also need to factor in the many local smalll businesses that would inevitably fail if some corporate giant like Walmart were to open a store.  It happens every time a Walmart opens anywhere, and it is part of Walmart's established corporate strategy to run any competitors out of business, no matter how small.

We've always had good food, after the new owners took over.  I hope they are not closing.

Maybe it's 10 acres because that happens to be the lot size available at that location.  Or maybe it will include a public park of some sort?

I am a big fan of Steeples.  Had Roadies fried chicken tonight...yum!

Hope they catch the kids quickly.

I agree with the people who are saying that $225 is a small amount with which to show some appreciation to the town employees.  It seems stingy and selfish to take issue with it.
