Current News & Events / Re: The Hummingbirds Are Back
« on: May 06, 2011, 02:34:16 PM »
Right next to our deck we just seeded a good-sized patch of new soil with mix of seeds that are supposed to attract the hummingbirds.  They were around our place last year, but this year they should be even more numerous.

No need to get upset about nothing.  That's how all governors of Vermont are referred to in some official documents.  Probably a holdover title from when we were British colonies.

http://www.leg.state.vt.us/docs/2012/journal/JA110105.pdf "The Committee performed the duty assigned to it and appeared within the Chamber accompanied by His Excellency, Governor James H. Douglas."

Thanks for all the updates!

We've only got two things in the garden at the moment; garlic (which stays in the ground over the winter), and onions which were planted a couple weekends ago.  I noticed a few tiny leaves on one raspberry plant, but that's it at this point.  Next week is looking much more springlike, with temps getting into the 60s most days.  It's about time!  Maybe a few more plants will venture to start putting out leaves next week.

How big is a bale Henry?  I could use some but dont have a truck or anything similar.  I'm wondering If I could fit 1 or 2 in my trunk.

I'm pretty disgusted with the whole affair.  The politicians holding up a budget deal for purely ideological reasons dont give a damn about how it affects everyday people.  At least on a personal level, I learned today that the facility where I work has been deemed "essential", so regardless of a shut-down, I'll still be working and getting paid.

How about where you work Josh?

I heard that some states are beginning to eliminate certain plate designs like ones with extra pictures, symbols, silhouettes, etc, because its getting harder to indentify what state they are from at a glance, because there are so many variations.

This is a probably a case of "I saw it on the internet, so it must be true."

I find it very scary that you, the guy who keeps saying
"there will be no death panels".............
is the first person to vote to KILL the elderly !
"I would definitely vote yes" GW stated.

Why not make some of your berries into jams this year and give some to the elderly ?

You scare too easily Chris, haha. :)  You think a terminally ill person making the decision to die when they choose and the ridiculously fictitious "death panels will kill your grandma" is the same thing?  What I support is the right of individuals to make a determination about their own lives.  Not other people, not the make-believe "panels", and not me, unless it is my own life.

I dont know how to make jam, and my berry patches are too small to probably make even one jar, heh.  Maybe in a few years.

Yes, I am a fan of George Washington too, what a coincidence! ;)

Every time I've received a ticket in the past, the officer has asked "Where are you going?"  I think this is pretty standard, and not a red flag at all.  I'm guessing every state has a regulation where you have to keep your plate visible, otherwise what's the point of having a license plate?

Announcements / Found: dead cat
« on: March 20, 2011, 12:13:35 PM »
I found a dead neutered male tiger-striped cat on the upper floor of our barn today at 22 Maple St.  It looks like he had been there for a while at least, but with the cold weather, it's hard to say how long.  Anyone missing their cat is welcome to send me a message.

Definitely used to scrape something, with the scrapings collecting in the compartment.  How big is this item?
