Henry, would Mike want visitors at the hospital? Ask him if he would like anything like a special CD to listen to his favorite music, or a Teddy bear to keep him company.......Fairfax friends....I think he needs some get well cards.

Oh Mike, I'm sorry you are going through this. It's never fun to be in the hospital or have a medical condition that requires hospital. BUT.....keep your chin up, you have a lot of friends who are praying for you and thinking of you. If you need anything other than a million dollars.....let us know. REALLY....Let us know!

General Discussion / Re: GOV Shumlin Skips Screening at BVT
« on: February 26, 2012, 11:32:03 AM »
The danger is not with the person of Gov Shumlin, but with the knowledge of the fact that he doesn't get screened, no metal detection at the State House, and knowledge of his schedule. Maybe I watch too many spy movies, but it seems pretty evident that these situations are dangerous, and leaves too much to chance.

General Discussion / GOV Shumlin Skips Screening at BVT
« on: February 24, 2012, 11:28:05 AM »
A few months back, I was on a scheduled flight from Burlington airport to NY. I saw Gov Shumlin and a few of his companions bypass the screening line and walked through a side entrance. When I walked to the waiting area at the gate, he was sitting in the waiting room with everyone else. That made me angry.....No one is above the law, not even a Governor. in this age of "high security", the greatest dangers are those unforeseen opportunities .......was his briefcase and luggage within his sight at all times? You get my drift. Elected officials should not be exempt from the security laws that we, the people must abide by.

it is not a safe practice and definitely puts people at risk for the unthinkable yet very possible disaster. Voice your opinion and object to this abuse of power.

General Discussion / Fairfax Rescue...Thank You!
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:48:48 PM »
hi All,
I want to publicly thank our Fairfax Rescue for coming to our aid at 1:00am....Yes, they were in the comfort of their homes, and got up, dressed, and came to us for what I thought was a medical emergency. They examined my husband and put me at ease. they would have transported him to the hospital if we wanted. It was clear it was up to us. Even as a nurse, sometimes it's hard to make the call. But he was alert and able to converse.....we decided to stay home and monitor. Diabetic situations can be tricky and down right scary .
the rescue team didn't get much sleep last night. Thank you for coming to our need!

Thank You!!!!

General Discussion / Who is "in charge" of The Baptist Curch Building?
« on: January 23, 2012, 11:30:10 AM »
Hi Everyone,
I would like to know who is in charge of the Baptist Church Building?  We are in need of a community center that is not within the confines, restrictions of the school. I can think of many activities that our community can enjoy together.....

General Discussion / Re: Things I'd Like to See in Our TownI - More Ideas
« on: January 13, 2012, 11:14:40 AM »
Regarding Community Dance...
I have done a little research and found that all the Barn dances are contra dances ( country line dancing or square dancing). My idea was a little different....I was thinking of traditional dancing. We wouldn't need a Barn....but it does set the mood.
Have there been community dances here in the past?

If you like contra dancing,I found plenty of places where people meet every week. For a small fee, there is a 1/2 hour instruction, and the next 2 1/2 hours is dancing.

( If you build it, they will come)...Let's Dance!

Other thoughts....simple and Fun
Community Talent show- I believe there are residents here who have loads of talent.  I'd like to see that!!!!!!
Karaoke Nights!  surely we can find a place in town for that!
