General Discussion / Long Fire Line by walking path
« on: April 24, 2018, 09:12:34 PM »
Tonight 4/24/, I saw a long fire line by the walking path, by the river.
I was wondering if this was a controlled burn? It didn't
Fit the pattern of a brush fire. It was a very long fire almost
In a straight line. Fire crews were there hosing it down.
Anyone see this? I took some photos . But don't know
How to post here.

Hello,
Yesterday I was shopping at Hannaford in Essex. My shopping cart was packed full of Christmas meal items. Before loading my goodies on the conveyor belt, I took a quick look behind me and saw a man standing patiently behind his cart. He had far fewer items that would be "eligible" for the Express lane. I invited him to go ahead of me in line. He said " you don't have to do that". I insisted saying " I would be a terrible person if I didn't".
He smiled and said "Merry Christmas".  I smiled back at him, with " Merry Christmas".
I was too busy loading my things to notice a most precious gesture from this stranger.
Out of breath, and with an sigh of exhaustion, I finally looked at the cashier, who asked if I knew the man. I said "No". She replied " Because he just left you $100.00 for your groceries".
I was in shock, and I quickly looked around for him, but he was already out of sight.
My bill was $240.00 of which I was only charged $140.00!

I asked the cashier if She knew his name. She told me, but I am unable to locate him to thank him. He may be out of sight but will never be out of mind. And as for me? I will make sure I pay it Forward.
Happy Holidays

Update: I have paid it forward by giving out 20.00 to 5 people;
To the crew at the dump site on Morse Rd in Fairfax,
And to someone I know who really needs it.

General Discussion / Your opinion on a HEAT PUMP heating system
« on: April 12, 2017, 06:22:59 PM »
Hello,
I've read a little about a heat pump heating system instead of
Using the traditional oil or propane furnace. Green Mountain installs
These. It is suppose to save you on your energy bills.

However, what is required is the installation of a heating unit in each room.

Any opinions???? Do you use this system?
Thanks!

Hello,
I have many worthwhile medical books I don't need anymore.
Some hardcover, some paperback. Some are for household,
Like symptoms and treatment, alternative medicine,
Nutrition and Diet Therapy, handbook of Diseases...etc. I hate to throw away if some folks out
There are interested in them... They all made me smarter... Haha

Let me know... I can leave them in a box outside by driveway if interested.

General Discussion / One Nurse's Opinion of UVM Gastroenterology
« on: June 22, 2016, 07:43:11 AM »
As a retired Nurse with over 25 years experience, I occasionally want to inform people of what I consider to be important Heath issues.
There are many, as you know. But when I see or experience poor quality care, I need to say something about it.
The UVM Medical Center Gastroenterology dept is about the worst I have ever encountered.
I have been "dealing" with them since 2007.

I have care for a relative with complicated medical issues. There was much suffering which
Led me to seek care from this medical group.
In broad terms, this is what we experienced:
Total Apathy towards the patient.
No clinical intervention except for a few tests and a prescription.
Testing was positive for two serious conditions.
Absolutely nothing was done to relieve suffering.
They did not forward reports to me or our primary physician.

I had to research over years to find alternative measures to combat symptoms.
I was successful in treating symptoms, but they still occurred daily.
I tried one doctor after another at UVM Gastroenterology.
On one initial visit. The physician actually said" you've been to every doctor here. What do you expect
Me to do about it?" ... Nothing was done. When secretary asked if he wanted the patient again, he let out an angry "NO!"

They new he has had a large Stone in his pancreas for 7 years!
They knew this could be causing his symptoms.
I didn't know this until recently.

I took him Dartmouth Medical Center... He had surgery.
He is much better! He still needs further surgery, but we found our solution.

When you need PROPER MEDICAL CARE for Gastroenterology... You go to Dartmouth, to Dr. Stuart Gordon.

Also, we have used and continue to use Dr Halliburton,
Who is outside the UVM practice. But has privileges at UVM.
They treat him badly. They Don't send patient reports to him, etc.
Dr. Halliburton is kind, thorough, and it was he who referred us to Dartmouth for surgery.

These things MATTER! I am a strong patient advocate and highly experienced as A Quality Care expert.
