Picture of the Day March 17, 2009No kidding...................FROST HEAVESAnd it's not the basketball team.
Route 104 is getting worse every year. Used to be Rt.128 was the standard bearer for lousy roads in the spring. One time, Margie and I went down to Essex and Williston, and the road was so bad, we took the interstate home.
Nowadays Rt. 104 is almost as bad. That's what years of neglect can do.
As I have said many times before, Rt.104 is not an important part of the road system in Vermont, according to the hierchy in Montpelier. There is no reason for anyone in Chittenden County to travel this way. If Rt.104 was a main thouroughfare from Burlington to a ski area, it would be in pristine condition.
This is why you cannot get a USA Today or a Boston Globe or New York Times on a daily basis.
We are not Rt.7.
We are not Rt.15.
You can buy those papers in Georgia. And Cambridge. Not here.
However, if you live in Montreal and want to ski at Smuggs, you travel Rt.104.
If you live in Ottawa, and want to visit Old Orchard Beach, you travel Rt.104.
Hmmmmmm.........................
Maybe we should apply to Canada for funds for fixing the road.
Just a thought.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
