School Budget Note From Peggy Stewart

The School Board has approved the 2008-2009 actual school budget in the amount of $10,911,579 which is slighly higher than last year at 4.92%. The total budget will be $11,151,579 or 5.07% if a proposed article to re-point the bricks on the 1943/Middle School building is passed. There is a surplus from the 2006-2007 budget year due to increased tuition students, teachers' salaries and increased interest. The budget may be increased but the important thing to realize is that the tax rate will be lower than last year because of the surplus. The School Board will be presenting the budget to the community on February 11th at 7:00 pm in the Elementary Gym and again at Town Meeting.
