Nancy Barrows Liberty

June 9, 1946 - May 2, 2014

Fairfax - Nancy Barrows Liberty, 67, died peacefully at her home, late Friday evening, May 2, 2014, with her husband by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born Nancy Louise Wilkins on June 9, 1946 in Burlington, the daughter of the late Herbert and Blanche (Glazier) Wilkins. She graduated from BFA Fairfax in 1964. She began working for Green Mountain Power, followed by Velan Valve, where she worked for over 34 years, retiring in 2012. She was a member of the United Church of Fairfax. Nancy enjoyed reading, puzzles, and feeding her birds. Family gatherings were very important to her. On August 16, 1986, Nancy married Brian Barrows in Fairfax. Brian predeceased her on December 6, 2007. On September 12, 2009, Nancy married Robert Liberty of Richmond. Nancy is survived by Robert, her daughter Michelle Anna Dunn and her husband Marc of Milton, by her step children Melissa Beaupre and husband Rusty and their children Bethany, Rebecca, Anna and Amber, all of Milton, Seth Barrows of St. Albans, and Robert's children Todd, Laurie, and Troy and their families, her sister Sally Sweet and husband Wayne, her brother Robert Wilkins and wife Sheryl, her brother-in-law James Woodward, all of Fairfax, by several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-laws. In addition to Brian, Nancy was predeceased by her sister Laura Woodward in 2012. Special thanks is extended to Dr. Marie Wood, her staff, and the volunteers at the Oncology Dept. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 5, 2014 at 10 am in the United Church of Fairfax. Burial will follow in Sanderson Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Church of Fairfax, c/o Sally Sweet, 44 Sweet-Slattery Rd, East Fairfield, VT 05448 Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 3-6pm in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton.
