Colin Santee (BFA Fairfax '09) Announces Candidacy
With concern of the college graduate population moving out of Vermont for good paying jobs, Colin Santee announced his candidacy for Vermont State Representative for Lamoille-2 at the Lamoille G.O.P. meeting in Hyde Park on Thursday evening, May 24th.

Santee, who just turned 21, is a senior at Johnson State College where he is the Student Government Vice-President.  Majoring in biology along with a minor in political science allows for Santee to follow his passion of land conservation. Santee is currently employed at Utility Risk Management Corporation in Stowe, a company that helps utilities achieve compliance with federal mandates for vegetation management.

Originally from Fairfax, Vermont, Santee graduated Bellows Free Academy Fairfax in 2009 and has been studying at JSC since. While in college, Santee has been on the Dean's List and is a recipient of the Humanities Department's Award for academic excellence in Government and History.

"After school, I want to be able to work and raise my family in the Green Mountains, however the current work environment is less than friendly to new businesses and recent college graduates." said Santee.  "I love Vermont, and I am ready to fight for the best possible future for our state."

Santee remains active in his community by volunteering his time to various organizations and as a Little League coach for the last several seasons.  This past winter, Santee helped the United Way of Lamoille County by fundraising and participating in the Polar Splash at Lake Elmore.

"I look forward to helping the residents of Lamoille-2 by working to ensure a secure future for them, their homes, their businesses but most importantly their children."
