Raymond E. Paulman

JEFFERSONVI LLE — Raymond Edward Paulman, 72, passed away suddenly Monday, August 4, 2008, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born on Aug. 5, 1935, in Guilford, son of the late Ernest and Leila (Henry) Paulman. Raymond grew up in the Brattleboro-Guilford area, graduating from Brattleboro High School in 1953. Following High School he enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After discharge from the Army he joined Pratt and Whitney Apprentice Program, Hartford, Conn., and then later moved to Northern Vermont where he made a career at General Electric/Martin Marietta for 27 years retiring in 1996. Ray received a bachelors degree from the University of Vermont and his masters degree from Saint Michaels College during that time. He took on a second career working for Home Land Security as a Personnel Staffing Specialist for U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the time of his death. Ray's hobbies included hunting and fishing and everything that went with it, golfing, buying and selling on ebay, and laughing with friends. He especially enjoyed the times at the hunting camp in Guilford for many years with his sons and friends and in the last few years at the N.Y. East Kilns Hunting Club. He was a member of the Williston Area Lions, the Vermont Trappers Association, the National Rifle Association, a life- time member of the North American Hunting Club and several other sports and cultural organizations. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Safford) Paulman of Jeffersonville; three sons, Mark Paulman of Sheldon and his daughter Kelly Ann and her son Aiden and Sarah and her daughter Brieannia. Timothy Paulman of Gainesville, Mo., and his daughter Natalie, and his step-daughter, Skye and her son Gregory Paulman and his wife Renee' of Williston and their daughter Serena and her son Alex; one daughter Lynette PaulmanRodriguez and her husband Marcial “Chalo“ of Santa Fe, N.M., and their daughter Kienna; two stepsons, Leonard Garamella of Denver, Colo., David Garamella of Fraser, Colo.; one brother, Herbert Paulman and wife Norma of Salem, N.H.; three sisters, Harriet Fairbanks of Brattleboro, Alta Barber of Brattleboro, Dorothy “Dottie“ Rogstad of Arlington, Texas. The mother of his children Dolores (LaFlam) Breen and her husband John of Santa Fe, N.M.; many nieces and nephews; and many life-time friends and hunting buddies. He was also predeceased by his brother Ernest Paulman. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A. W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel. Inurnment and a celebration of Raymond's life will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family respectfully requests that floral tributes be withheld due to allergies. Memorial contributions in Raymond's memory may be made to Williston Area Lions, P.O. Box 482, Williston, VT 05495. Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W.
