Mr. Hancox was an excellent teacher!  I truly enjoyed him as a teacher and when teaching while I was in college; I would reflect on how Stan would do it.  He could make you laugh and learn at the same time. I can't wait to read the article.

Now Mr. Brown you were by far my favorite principal.  I have used your philosophy that everyday was a new day and a clean slate for decades when working with students and fellow employees that may not choose the right path from time to time.

Current News & Events / Re: More On The Voting For Fireworks

I personally think fund raising is how the fireworks money should be raised and not by tax dollars. I agree, start now, you can raise more by leaving the cans out now.
I would much rather see $5000 of tax money go towards fixing and growing our sidewalks than the 15 minutes of ok fireworks.

He died of complications arising following heart Surgery.  He had a tremendous spirit and the teen center is a wonderful way to remember him.

General Discussion / Re: Motivations in Athletics
« on: May 18, 2008, 04:55:03 PM »
I come from playing the bench in some sports and Varisty as well as Captain in others.  Not every child can excell in all sports they try; as I was an example.  I don't believe that the challenges of being a coach with today's kids did he say he was only playing the gifted.

I think you will find that those who don't listen or pay attention in practice and/or being disrespectful are on the bench more often than not.  Yes, those who work hard in practice and may not be your all stars deserve their chance to play.  I do agree with that.

It's also important to remember that support comes from home and the coaches.  Take an active roll with your children to succeed in doing well.  Those parents who leave all of it to the coach are the first to point fingers if their child does not play because they only practice shooting hoops only during basketball season.  You don't have to be an all star yourself.  You just need to take them to the school, let them practice.  Support their interests.

This encourages them as an adult to work on their weaknesses and turn then into challenges/goals.  It encourages them to not blame others for their drawbacks but to take ownership of their lives.  Life long lessons can be taught when a child's coach and families take an active role in molding minds of our future adults.

Great Idea!  I think one day a week would be wonderful and keeping it local (Fairfax, Fletcher, Westford).  I know I plan every trip when I leave the house now with gas prices.

Current News & Events / Re: Act 250 Approves Walmart For St. Albans
« on: April 06, 2008, 07:49:16 AM »
This is a big win for St. Albans and Fairfax.  With the gas prices climbing, this is great.  I don't think St. Albans is going to be disappointed with this decision.  Instead of towns north of St. Albans and Canadian travelers driving right by St. Albans and going to Williston, they are going to stop and shop.  Shoppers will stop at other stores since they are in the area and business should increase for local merchants.  I know I will be happy to avoid the Williston area on the weekends !

Current News & Events / Re: That Small Town Feeling - Thanks J & L
« on: April 03, 2008, 09:10:19 AM »
I go to J&L often.  Especially with rebuilding the house and I can say that everyone of them  is excellent in helping me out.  Since I am not a carpenter, painter, or finish work specialist; I usually walked in with questions of what I was about to do and then I would follow them around the store as they help me pick the right equipment for the task!

I can honestly say that I went to the bigger Hardware stores in Williston and St. Albans instead of getting what I was told to pick up by my contractors, it would take two or more trips on certain occasions just for them to get it right.  I started carrying lists when I had to go to them or pieces of what I was supposed to pick up more of so I would save myself another trip!

"Thanks J&L"  you are the best!

Sorry Dan.  Work had a problem and our external email was down but it is back up and I received your last email.  I am in New Hampshire next Monday when you have your call but I will try and hop on as I am not on nights at this time for work.

Current News & Events / Re: The 'bupe' fix

Chad and I were very close friends, we just celebrated our birthdays together a week before he died.  The fact still remains that obviously the user who had the drug can not be responsible with their medications and is known for not only swallowing the pills but snorting them as well.  Our tax dollars at work folks to provide a new high for heorin addicts and their friends in this scenario.

I blame Chad and the person who was giving them out for what happened to him. I hope they can come to terms with it some day and be responsible for the actions they took prior to and learn from it and the lies they spread after his death.

Nothing will bring Chad back, and unfortuantely he will never be married and have a family as I always pictured.  For those thinking he had a child post death, that is incorrect.

I am a strong believer that this drug must get off the streets!  If it needs to be used than they have to go to a hospital to get it each time they need it.  If that sounds like too much of a hassle, then I guess you don't really need it.  Chad died because "someone had extras", does this sound like someone responsible with their medication; I think not.

Yes Dad, it is a generation thing.  I love the Simpson's too and for it to be in Springfield, VT is perfect.  I mean VT Yankee nuclear plant is just down the road even and that is where Homer works :-)

I think it is wonderful for the town; as revenue will be created due to them being "The Springfield" of the Simpsons.

Not too fond of his TV show BUT Tim does make a good Homer though.
