Announcements / Beautiful Cat needing a new home
« on: May 16, 2012, 02:29:45 PM »

Please Consider Bringing her into your home!

I am posting this on behalf of Kathy Day -

"I'm posting this photo in hopes of helping a co-worker who is trying to find a forever loving home for her beautiful cat.  She is no longer able to keep her.  This is what I know: She loves to play and cuddle.  She loves to play hide and is very meek.  She's a little timid around strange people and dogs but she does fine with them.  She will just hide until she knows they are fast asleep as that's what she did with her dog.  She has been an indoor cat, but has gotten out before and would most likely love to explore the great outdoors.  Feel free to pass the info on- Thank you!!"

I love how she could run with the stroller!  We had two super ladies doing that today!

Happy 33rd Anniversary to Lisa (in photo) and her husband Brian Sheridan, owners of Ultimate Fitness in Milton!  What a great way to celebrate you two!

Hi all,

I know of someone who needs to regularly go to a food shelf.  She is working two jobs and trying to provide for her family and when she went to the winooski food shelf, when she gets home she finds the food is molded on the inside and such.

I was wondering if anyone could give me addresses to any other food shelf in that area that I may direct her towards?  I of course am going to be giving her a care package tomorrow, but any suggestions would be greatly welcomed!

Current News & Events / Special Holiday Foods
« on: December 23, 2011, 11:28:23 AM »
Each year I always look forward to those special food items my family and I make for the holidays.  Many foods are now a tradition as we "gotta" have them during Christmas.

We each have our specialty from Pineapple Cookies to Prime Rib!

One sister is the cinnamon rolls, another is the pineapple cookies and peanut butter cookies with hershey's kisses, my brother in law makes the best cheesecake, and my Dad has his special fudge. Together we all pitch in to do the meals.  Me, I am the appetizer girl.  Deviled eggs, meatballs, spinach dip, and each year I try to find something new to try; this year it is buffalo chicken dip!

What are your favorite Holiday Foods?

General Discussion / Percy's Building Construction Co Scamming customers
« on: October 18, 2011, 11:20:19 AM »
Burlington Free Press warns Lamoille, Franklin, and Chittenden Counties.

http://www.wcax.com/story/15706953/police-looking-for-scamming-contractor

North Troy, Vermont - October 16, 2011

State Police are warning homeowners about a contractor who they say is scamming customers.

33-year-old Leonard Percy runs Percy's Building Construction out of North Troy. Police say he recently had a customer pay him several thousand dollars as a down payment on a project, but never finished the work. Investigators believe there may be other victims in Lamoille, Franklin, and Chittenden Counties.

Percy has been previously charged for home improvement fraud and is currently listed on the Vermont Attorney General's Home Improvement Fraud Registry.

I am volunteering to take your donations of food and water up to Cambridge Village Market today for their delivery tomorrow.  You may leave items in my breezeway at 481 Fletcher Road (House right after Henry Raymond's), until 3pm today. Southern VT is still in desparate need for supplies.

I have received some items last night and this morning and would love to bring more up for this wonderful cause of helping our own Vermonters.  Every little bit counts!

Thank you,
Mary Kay Raymond

I came home from Boston last night to a black bird with a white belly, swooping at me as I tried to get into the house.  It keeps going into the breezeway and we have not found a next yet, but I suspect when I get home today I will see one in the works.  She constantly is coming at us when we go outside, otherwise I would not mind her moving in.

Any suggestions on spooking her to go somewhere else.  She is really persistant.  I am guessing it is a female as I don't even know what type of bird she is.  I will try and grab a picture of her tonight.

If I don't come up with a peaceful idea, my friend says killing it is his option :-( I don't want to do that.

Current News & Events / Gym In Georgia to Open June 1st!
« on: May 02, 2011, 02:08:51 PM »
I just found out today from a friend that the old Buyer's Digest building is going to be Genesis Fitness.  http://genesisfitnessvt.com/index.html   Check it out, if you sign up before opening day, you get two weeks free.

I saw the prices were $38 - $48 based on length of membership you signed up for.  At first I thought it was a bit expensive look what else is included in the membership.

**From Their website**
Also included in your membership...

"Professional, knowledgeable personal training staff will be on site at all times to answer questions, provide guidance and supportThis may include fitness assessment, personalized training plans and follow up.  Our staff specializes in making the process enjoyable and helping members see continued success.  Our goal is to educate on the fundamentals of healthy living; covering basic topics such as proper weight lifting technique and reading nutrition labels, to more advanced topics such as overcoming plateaus and effectively managing specific health concerns.  Information will be shared through various methods but always in a casual atmosphere where members will be able to relate experiences, vent frustrations and gain support.  Our team will strive to form trusting relationships with members by building rapport, helping them reach their goals and sharing successes.  Our hope is that members will begin to look forward to their workouts and time at Genesis Fitness as well as gain a sense of community and satisfaction in the victories of others."

They also have monthly seminars on various topics that will be free for members to attend.

I have been challenged with the hours I work to find a good gym close by so I can do everything I need to in a day. This looks like my answer has finally shown up!

So as of June 1st, I have a new plan in place!

WELCOME GENESIS FITNESS!

It’s spring time when we all start to clean out the clutter and get ready for summer.

Do you have any Children’s items that are in good condition and your child has outgrown them?  I have a friend who plans on opening a daycare in town around August 15th.  She lives 3 miles from town and has worked in daycare and now is trying to afford to start her own.  I am very proud of her and would love to see her be able to make this happen.

If you have any items that you would like to donate to help this young woman, please let me know and I will pass on the information.  Also, if you are looking for daycare, feel free to send me a message (marykayr@myfairpoint.net) with your contact information and I will have her contact you.

General Discussion / Propane Provider - Time to leave them....
« on: March 21, 2011, 04:50:28 PM »
So, I have to say that paying $4.04 a gallon on a budget plan for propane is REALLY upsetting me.  Tomorrow my mission is to find someone else to start delivering in April.  Does anybody have a suggestion for a Fletcher Road gal?  What do you pay for a gallon?  Do you like their customer service?
