Its illegal in Tennessee to text and drive.  Of course it doesn't stop anyone..much like the law in NY about talking on cell phones and driving...

I saw this yesterday as I was stopped to turn left...(linked from my Facebook page..)

Thoughts and prayers from Tennessee! A pet is nothing more than a hairy kid!

The winter before I left Vermont, I was in Stowe doing a practice burn with Stowe Fire and Waterbury Fire, the house we burned was a Sears house.  The owner tried for years to sell it (move it I guess too..) but no one was interested, she was quite sad to see a piece of history "go up in flames" (Pun in attended).

Don't care who ya are..that's funny!

Another? That section of Swanton has had many many fires over the years.  I recall another bad fire there when I was young.

General Discussion / Re: It's a Small World
« on: March 08, 2010, 12:08:54 PM »
A little more on the small world...I currently live in the middle Tennessee area (20 minutes of so from Nashville.) Within an hours drive of me there are at last I knew at least 5 people with ties to Fairfax.  3 hours to the east in the Knoxville area, there are another 6-8.  (Most of these are graduates of BFA....)

Current News & Events / Re: Franklin Prayer May Bring Legal Action

If the differences are to be respected, then shouldn't a prayer be allowed?  Kind of a devils advocate spin, but you don't have to bow your head or say the prayer.  There were people that do believe in God and do attend church that attend town meeting.

Confusing thusly making it silly.  I am waiting for the Fringe tie in..(both shows are Bar Robot productions and both have stories revolving around "other worlds"

I think the cold went "south" for the spring.  Its 7AM and a whopping 20 degrees here in the Nashville area.

General Discussion / Re: Propane Gas Smells
« on: February 26, 2010, 01:51:21 PM »
With increases/decreases in temperature even of only a few degrees, propane expands and shrinks.  Tanks all have a pressure relief valve to accomodate for that.  When the pressure inscreases due to expanison a little gas will release.  Nothing to worry about though.  If you see a cloud low to the ground near the tank or can hear the high pressure whistle?  Then it is time to worry.

By the way the additive put in the gas to give it a scent is highly concentrated.  Even a few drops can make it seem like there is a huge tank leaking.

(In my 15+ years in emergency services I have been to many "leaking" tanks only to find no leaking only pressure relaseses.)
