« on: May 26, 2012, 08:52:50 AM »
The VT States Park pass for the upcoming year will be arriving soon at the Fairfax Community Library! The pass gets your vehicle and up 8 people inside into any state park for the day for FREE!  You can call the library to reserve the pass up to a week in advance.

Also check out this great app for VT State parks. It clues you in on what there is to do at each park, hiking, caving, birdwatching, and provides directions! You can also filter by activity to see which parks offer what. This app is also free.

Current News & Events / Simple Living at the Library
« on: April 09, 2012, 11:25:42 AM »
What better month to increase your environmental awareness than April!  This month the Fairfax Community Library is hosting the Catamount Earth Institute’s Simple Living Lending Library.  This collection of books, DVDs and pamphlets are all about living simply and both encourage and help you to reduce your ecological footprint. This collection is available for any patron of our library to take out.

Some titles include:
How Much is Enough by Alan Durning
Low Carbon Diet by David Gershon

Simplify your Life with Kids by Elaine St. James
The Story of Stuff (DVD)

Don’t forget that April 22nd is Earth Day.  Check out http://act.earthday.org/ to make an act of green pledge (which could be to increase your eco awareness through reading books about it)!

We are happy to announce that the Breastfeeding Clinic & Support group will take place the first Saturday of every month at the Fairfax Community Library from 10 am to 11 am.  This is for women who are thinking about breastfeeding, are currently breastfeeding or want to share their experiences with others!  Please let us know a week in advance if you need child care for older siblings and we will arrange it. Mari from Franklin County Home Health will be the facilitator every month!

Next months meeting is on Saturday March 3rd! Please sign up in advance at the library or by calling 849-2420!

The Stampin' Up program for this Wednesday February 8th at 3:30 at the Fairfax Community Library will be cancelled!  Unfortunately we did not have enough people sign up.

Let us know if this is something you would like to see us offer again!

The Fairfax Community Library is looking forward to offering our community a series of quilting classes in the winter or early spring.  We will bring in a quilting instructor who will guide you along on your project.  We were hoping to get some feedback from the community regarding scheduling and what type of project interests you the most!

The classes would either take place on a weekday evening or a Saturday morning.   As for the projects, we can choose from a table runner, a wall hanging or a purse.  Let us know (on the forum, in person at the library or by calling 849-2420) which project interests you and when would be best for the classes! Hopefully we can make this work for all interested! Thanks!

We are working on getting a breastfeeding clinic to come to the library for those who are thinking about breastfeeding, are currently breastfeeding, or those who have wisdom to share with others.  The program would last about an hour or so and we hope to offer babysitting for siblings so that there are no worries about childcare.

We are hoping for some feedback about scheduling!  Would a Saturday morning or a weekday evening work better for those interested?
