Essex, VT/Ponce Inlet, FL - Ronald Richard Lamell, 76, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Ponce Inlet, FL. Ron was born September 20, 1941 in Burlington, the son of the late Richard and Irene Villeneuve Lamell. He was married to his beloved wife Sheila O’Keeffe on April 5, 1964 and together shared an incredible life journey. They lived, loved and worked together for many years. Ron Lamell was a prominent businessman in Essex, VT. As a young man aged 20, he travelled down to NJ to work while living with his aunt, uncle & cousins. There, he met the love of his life, Sheila O’Keeffe. When he returned to Vt in 1964 with Sheila as his bride, they lived in his parents’ basement for a time while Ron worked beside his Father, Richard, at the family sawmill. It was during this period, that Ron drove his #11 1956 Ford at Catamount Stadium in Milton, VT. His racing career was short lived, however, for as his family grew, Ron decided to quit racing to build the first of the three houses they lived in. Then, sadly in 1970, the mill was destroyed by a devastating fire. By now the Father of three, Ronald Jr., Michele & Keith, Ron rebuilt and devoted himself to grow the sawmill into the successful Lamell Lumber Corporation that it is today. His success enabled him to later become the Crew Chief & Corporate Sponsor for both Ron Jr & Keith in their racing careers as award winning drivers in the Busch Grand National Championship North Series. The Lamell Corporation has grown to have many businesses under it’s moniker. These businesses grew out of Ron’s intelligence, strong sense of industry & keen business mind. He is regarded by his colleagues in the industry both locally & nationally as a respected & ethical businessman. His friend, Norm Cyr wrote: “One instance of Ron’s true character comes to mind: “...An acquaintance of both Ron and I asked us “How come Ron and his Dad had sold us our first sawmill; Norm could have become competition? Ron’s reply to this was “There’s enough here for all of Us.” Donald & Nancy posted that: “Ron was a Brilliant Man, whom anyone could talk to about anything and everything.” Words describing Ron from those stopping by & posting their condolences this past week include: Smart, Wonderful, Kind, Quiet, Good listener, Soft spoken, Humble, Successful, Friend, Ethical, Respected, Genuine, Family Man & Father figure to many. Ron was truly a life-long learner. Since childhood, he played with, in and around cars. This interest led him as an adult to become an avid car collector many of which he restored. He took courses throughout his life, whether it be at the high school enrichment programs for algebra or Dale Carnegie corporate leadership training to improve his skills & performance. He studied the piano & took art lessons. He encouraged and supported anyone in the family, especially his 22 nieces and nephews to continue their education. He earned his pilot’s license to fly both his airplane & helicopter. His nephew, Jonathan, who is a mechanical engineer, when asked who he learned the most from responded that “Uncle Ron is the best, mechanical engineer I’ve ever known. He taught me so much.” As busy as Ron was with his businesses and interests, he always made time for Sheila, his children and his parents. As his children grew, he strongly supported them in all their activities; Michele, through the years she participated in gymnastics and Ron & Keith on their wrestling teams & racing. Ron was a supporter both of the high school wrestling & the Warrior Wrestling teams. As a young married couple Ron & Sheila made time to take in teenaged brother's-in-law over school breaks to live and work at the mill where they learned so many mechanical & life skills. They hosted a variety of nephews from NJ & VT & their kids’ friends in their home where they also worked at the mill & wrestled with Ron Jr & Keith. Throughout his life, Ron was a wonderful son. He treated his parents with utmost love & respect until their deaths. He once gave ‘Peppy’ a Model A car for his birthday. Oftentimes, he would go to a car show in Stowe for the weekend with the motorhome while his Mother, Irene, would go up with her camper to sell her “treasures”. This was quality time for this Mother/Son team. And, when his Mother died, Ron was grief stricken but had no regrets about the loving connection he had with both his parents. Ron & Sheila spent a good deal of their time in their motorhome touring this beautiful country which he loved so very much. He would take her to places off the grid to track down a car, dune buggy, helicopter or a motorized bicycle that he was after to restore. This pathfinder showed Sheila the world as he explored it to discover his latest motorized finds. Ron’s coast-to -coast “Discovery Tours” showed his darling “Mamma Bear”, as he called her, just how grand this land of ours is. Ron moored a pontoon boat at their camp home on Lake Champlain. A bit later, they joined his now retired parents in FL when they bought a condo there. Eventually they built their castle by the Sea on the beach in Ponce Inlet. This was the house that was so dear to Ron. Sheila & he made many new friends at the North Turn, most of whom wintered from Canada at the Inlet. These new friends became their North Turn Racing Family where they competed fiercely against one another at shuffleboard. Ron gave Sheila free range to decorate their houses which she did so with tasteful elegance & comfort. Whatever house of Ron & Sheila’s one was in; one knew immediately that they were welcomed. They made every house of theirs into a HOME. Sheila & Ron rededicated themselves to each other on their 25th wedding anniversary 29 years ago at St Pius X. The party that followed was replete with a turkey dinner (Ron’s favorite), Irish dancing & an ‘real’ Elvis impersonator! Everyone has family pictures of this grand celebration. Seventeen years ago Ron became a “Poppy” when Chelsea, the first of his four grandchildren was born. Her birth was followed by Kyle. Ethan & Wyatt. These kids took a prime position in his life. He gave them his all...taking them to DisneyWorld & camping trips, building things with them & having them work at the mill. He was so very proud of their academic achievements & supported them in their sporting activities. But most of all, Poppy spent as much time with them as possible listening as he learned about them and their world. Just as Ron spent a lot of time making lumber, he also made time to spent with his extended Villenueuve & O’Keeffe families... which to this date, includes about 75 O’Keeffes. The Lamell homes in both Vermont & Florida became full serviced destination resorts for all in their family & friends circle. We skied, snowmobiled, skeet shot, rode on boats, bicycles, sleighs, in rumble seats, dune buggies, tractors,18 wheelers, the Cobra and for up in the airplane and ‘Marilyn’ the helicopter. Their houses hosted reunions, friendly gatherings, birthday parties & honeymooners. And, there always was an invitation for family to attend the Daytona 500 with them. This Frenchman was truly a member of our Irish clan. Many times Ron & Sheila drove the motorhome down to NJ & took all the Villenueuve Aunties for a fun trip to Atlantic City! They invited family & friends to feast at their backyard Pig Roasts among the splendor of VT autumn colors. Their hospitality was the Lamell gift that kept on giving. Time spent with family was EVERYTHING to Ronald Richard Lamell. Now that Ron’s earthly life has ended, those of us whose lives he touched will no longer be spending the precious gift of time with him here on earth. His passing is a tremendous loss to our clan. Yet more than this, it is unbelievably difficult for Sheila, Ron Jr, Keith, Michele; as well as John, Chelsea, Kyle, Ethan & Wyatt. Their road, going forward without him, will be difficult. They will all need continued support from the rest of the clan as they go forward without their beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather’s presence on earth. He also leaves behind a countless number of extended family and friends. Far too many to count from every corner of our Country spanning from the Green Mountains, to the Midwest, the desert, the beaches of Florida and even California. Ron was predeceased by his father in 2004 and his mother in 2012. Tragically he lost his brother Frederick in 1959 and his sister Marion Dyke in 1999. The world is now a better place because this man, Ron Lamell, walked the earth. And, the faith that we were raised in teaches us that we will all meet again. Farewell, for a time, dear Ron. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10 am in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Essex Center. Burial will be held at a later date in the family lot in St. Luke’s Cemetery in Fairfax. Following the Mass family, friends, acquaintances and coworkers are invited to a celebration of Ron’s life and to share precious memories at a reception to be held at The Catamount Country Club in Williston immediately following the Mass. Charlotte Ann Blum died peacefully on February 26, 2018. Charlotte was born in Burlington, Vt on Feb. 16th, 1936 to Carl Sloan Bashaw and Lucy May Thresher. She was raised in Alburg and St Albans, Vt. She graduated from St Mary's High School in St Albans where she was an outstanding basketball player. She went to work at Stollman’s Department store where our dad spotted her working in the display window and swore he was going to marry her. Roger Schwarzman, who was stationed at the air force base in St Albans, and Charlotte were married at St Mary's Church on May 5, 1955. In 1958 they moved to Roger's hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. They were happily married until Roger's death in 1971. Charlotte raised their four children alone while working at JC Penney’s. In 1979, she returned to her home state, which she loved dearly, where she raised her own food with her second husband, William Blum. At the age of 43 she returned to school to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Fanny Allen Nursing School with her LPN in 1980. She continued to further her education while working at NMC and Green Mountain Nursing Home and in 1987 received her RN from Norwich University. She worked as an Oncology nurse for over twenty years at UVM Medical Center. While there she organized and moderated a support group for cancer patients and their families. She was an excellent nurse and loved by all her patients. Charlotte was a firm believer in giving of one's time. When her children were young she was an officer in the PTO, a brownie leader, a moderator for the Catholic Youth Group, and helped run an annual New Year’s party for over 200 people. After she retired she volunteered with CVAA’s Community Meals & Friendly Visitor Program, AARP’s driving instruction course, Fairfax Library, River Berry Farm and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer for over 25 years. She always went above and beyond in caring for her clients. She leaves behind her loving children, Debbie Tovey (Ed) of Middleburg Hts, Ohio, Kimberly Herne (Bob), of St Albans, Vt, Rebecca Gomez of Fairfax, Vt, and Matthew Schwarzman, of Fletcher Vt. Her adored grandchildren, Patrick and Bridget Tovey , Steven Gomez (Rebeka), and Jessica Gomez, and her precious great-granddaughter, Osa Grace Gomez. She leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Jim Groseclose of Fairfax, Vt, her cousin, Martha Smith of Enosburg, Vt, and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by both her husbands and her grandson, Anthony Gomez in 2012. Charlotte was a kind, loving, and generous woman but was also a woman with strong opinions. She always stood up for what she believed in and loved nothing more than political discussions with her son-in-law, Ed. She was a wonderful cook who loved to host parties for her family and friends, an awesome gardener, and an avid reader. She was always a constant in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In the last few years, Charlotte was stricken with Alzheimer’s disease. For the last nine months, she resided at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford where she received outstanding care. Our special thanks to everyone there who cared for mom with such love and kindness. Because of all of you, she kept her independent spirit and dignity. Per her wishes, there will be no service or visiting hours. In honor of Charlotte, we ask that you educate yourselves about the growing epidemic of Alzheimer’s disease. Its victims & their families need your patience and understanding as they struggle down this path. Donald Danis, loved by all who knew him, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Donald was born in Fall River Massachusetts but most recently lived in Fairfax Vermont for the past 28 years. Donald was 89 years old and passed away at home on February 11, 2018 surrounded by his family. Donald was born in Fall River Massachusetts to Eugene and Martha Danis on June 28, 1928. His mother, Martha passed away when he was 3 years old. His father, Gene remarried when Donald was 9. Nine months later Donald's father also died. He was raised by his stepmother Mildred, the only Grandmother his children ever knew. Donald grew up in Fall River Mass and graduated from Durfee High School, where he joined the Navy Corp. During his high school years he worked at LA Drape, a local fish market. After graduating high school he entered the US Airforce. He attended Air Force Technical School at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. His course of study was in radio operations. Later he was sent to work as part of the 136 Communications Security Squadron. In 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine DaPonte. After leaving the Air Force in December of 1952, he began working for the New England Telephone Company. He began as an installer and worked his way up to District Manager, supervising 13 different town offices. He retired in 1990, and he and his wife Lorraine moved to Fairfax Vermont. He began volunteering at Fanny Allen Hospital, and as an installer for Lifeline. He also worked for a short time as a FEMA communications specialist. Donald was an avid animal lover of both domestic and wild animals. His wife Lorraine passed away in December of 1996. In 1999, he met Sylvia Bovi of Connecticut, and remained in a loving relationship with her until his passing. Donald and Lorraine were married for 44 years and are survived by their five children and their families: Patricia and husband Ralph Robinson, James and wife Denise, William, Jean and husband Gary Gilmond Jr., and Kathy and husband Michael Bovat. grandchildren: Bradley, Siobhan, Wendy, Brendan, Gary III, Mark and Kathryn. He was predeceased by two grand children, Erin and Joshua. Great Grandchildren: Brandone, James, Connor, Griffin, and Gary IV. Special relatives in Kentucky: Nephew, Steve and wife Lynda DaPonte, and their children Dan and Cindee. Niece, Susan and husband Kevin Garrett, and their children Lauren, Matthew and Christopher. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Fall River MA. Special thanks to Franklin County Home Health Hospice. In the Spring there will be a Catholic Mass at St Luke's Church followed by an inurnment at St Luke's Cemetery in Fairfax Vermont. St. Albans – Clinton E. Paquin a lifelong resident of this area passed away Thursday, February 8th, 2018, at the Franklin County Rehab Center following a brief illness. Born in Sheldon on August 27th, 1939, he was one of twelve children to the late Ambrose and Florence (Gilbert) Paquin. Clint was 78 years old. On February 15th, 1958, he married Pauline Plante, who survives him. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 15th, 2018. Clint was a 1957 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and 2 years later he began a career of 55 years with Paquin Motors, retiring in 2015. In 1964, he and Pauline bought Pleasant Acres Farm in Fairfax, which is still operated by their family. Clint was a former member of Lodge #1090, LOOM, St. Albans Lodge #1566, BPOE, The Owl Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles, #4218 - Arrowhead. Survivors include his wife, Pauline, of St. Albans; their daughters and husbands, Kathy and Jay Guertin of Laconia, New Hampshire and Emily and Rett Heald of St. Albans and daughter-in-law, Maria Paquin of Fairfax. Clint is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas Guertin, Erin Caruso and Joe, Chris Heald and Danielle, Meghan Howrigan and Peter, Beth Ann Paquin and Dustin Snyder and Dylan Paquin, as well as his great-grandchildren, Lillian and Harrison, Harper and Chloe, Stella, and Ava and Shay. Clint is also survived by his brother, Burton Paquin, Sr. of Swanton and sister, Theresa Gearty of Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clint was pre-deceased by his son, Gilbert C. Paquin on September 14th, 2007, and his brothers, Maurice John, Chester, Ambrose, Jr., Clifford and Alton and his sisters, Phyllis Jarvis, Gladys Cormier, Joyce Bishop and Hilda LaBombard. Relatives and friends will honor and celebrate Clint’s life by attending calling hours on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. Private interment will take place at the family lot in Fairfax Plain Cemetery. Fairfax, Holly O’Harra, 76 of Fairfax passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 24, 2018 in the Franklin County Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans. Holly was born May 16, 1941 in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of the late Alan Marion Heckman and Ann Tappan. Holly was unequivocally the definition of class and elegance. She enjoyed jazz music and had a deep appreciation for fine art, but more importantly the stories behind them. Wherever Holly lived, she would turn it into her own beautiful gallery, which told her story and showcased many important memories and experiences in her life and throughout her journey. She had an uncanny gift for gardening and interior decorating, which was inspired by her love of flowers and design. What Holly saw as solely a hobby, was highly regarded and desired by others all over and featured in magazines across the state of Washington, including the prominent and well-established Better Homes magazine whose readers look to for inspirational posh décor. Anything she touched was truly magnificent. She lived a life most could only dream of and enjoyed the finer things that life had to offer. She is survived by her children, David Maclean of Langley, Washington, Tracy Maclean of Seattle, Washington, John Shannon and his wife, Shawna of Wasilla, Alaska and Shelly Pottala and her husband, Lafe of Fairfax, Vermont; Her grandchildren, Rachael, Jenae, Andrew, Lafe and Koben; Her dear friend Billy Israel of Montreal and her loving dog, Stella. SWANTON – Walter Labrie, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2018 at his home in Swanton.
He was born May 31, 1936 in Franklin, VT, the son of the late Steve & Elaine (Bates) Labrie.
Although he lived his life with a hearing disability, he worked in Manchester, NH as a meat cutter and then Wright Construction in Franklin, VT, until he retired. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting & fishing.
Walter is survived by his brother John Labrie and wife Ramona of Fletcher; several nieces & nephews, his aunts, Polly Labrie of St. Albans and JoAnne Grondahl of Lake Worth, FL. He also leaves behind his special furry friend of 15 years, his cat Jack.
In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there will be no public services. His final resting place will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Franklin.

Fairfax: William “Bill” Fay, better known as “Bing” to the family, a lifelong resident to the area, passed away Sunday, January 14th, 2018 with his loving wife by his side. Born August 30, 1942, in St. Albans, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Gladys (McKinney) Fay. Bill was 75 years old. Bill was a graduate of BFA St .Albans. On March 25, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna (Frazier) Fay who survives him. Bill was a very dedicated man and proud of his career in the United States Air Force. He loved hunting, fishing and watching deer. He also enjoyed painting deer pictures and working with wood. He was an avid fan of John Wayne and knew every movie John Wayne had appeared in. Survivors include his wife Donna Fay; daughter, Cindy Sweeney and her husband, Scott Sweeney; sister, Rita Fay; brother-in-law, Bruce Frazier; granddaughter, Jessica Kohler and her fiancé, Jeff Stewart; and great-grandson, Benjamin Kohler. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Fay. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as many friends and fond memories of Cottonwood Cove Campground. Visiting will be Saturday, January 20th, 2018 in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans from 10:00 AM until 12 Noon, followed by a funeral service. Rev. Megan Stowe, Pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, will officiate. At the conclusion of the services, Military Honors will then be accorded the Air Force Veteran. Colleen Toof Blake Colleen T Blake, 86 of Fairfax died peacefully Wed. Jan. 10, 2018 at the Manor in Morrisville, Vt. Colleen was born September 27, 1931 in St Albans, Vt., the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Rounds Toof. She is predeceased by her husband Dean W Blake and her brother Arthur D Toof Jr. She attended B.F.A. Fairfax, and was married on July 15, 1950 at the United Methodist Church of Fairfax. Colleen had a love for music, played the piano, sang at many weddings and was a member of the church choir. She also performed with the Barber Shoppers and a member of The Eastern Stars. She is survived by her children, Dean W. Blake Jr. of St Albans, Christine Blake Rainville and her husband Claude, Jeff Blake and his wife Johanna of Fairfax. She is survived by 5 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren, and 10 Nieces and Nephews, who will all miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held at the Minor Funeral Home on Monday January 15, 2018 at 2 pm with a Social gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen's memory to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Manor for the excellent care they provided.

He was born on March 3, 2006 in St. Albans to Thomas & Renee (Boudreau) Pattee. Colby accomplished a lot in his 11 years. He was an excellent outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish. He had a tremendous work ethic; he would regularly take care of the animals at his grandfather’s barn. He made a difference in the lives of others with his compassion and genuine kindness. Colby would give the shirt of his back to anyone that needed it. Aside from hunting and fishing, his favorite hobbies were hanging out with friends, playing soccer and going to camp to play cards with Pepe V. He is survived by his parents, Thomas & Renee Pattee, his brother, Dylan Pattee and his best friend, CoJak Pattee all of Enosburg; paternal grandparents, Bill & Rachel Pattee of Enosburg; maternal grandmother, Charlene Boudreau of Poinciana, FL; aunt, Terri Deuso and her children, Brendan & Aleta and their father Keith Deuso all of Enosburg; uncle Kris Boudreau and his daughter, Elle Boudreau both of Port Orchard, WA; special friend, Tyler Elwood; his special “uncles”, Al Burnor and his wife Debbie, Jody Kane and his girlfriend, Christine Frost and Scott Howard and his wife Kelli and many great aunts & uncles. Colby was predeceased by his great grandparents, Charles & Frances Vaillancourt, Ruth Pattee, Arthur Toof and Dorcas & Clarence Boudreau and his hunting partner, Donny Messier. SWANTON – John F. Tougas, age 87, peacefully passed into the next life on Thursday, December 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Swanton. He was born November 14, 1930 in Pike River, Quebec to the late Aristide & MaryAnne (Samson) Tougas. John married Imedla (Rainville) Tougas on May 15, 1954. They owned and operated Johnny’s Restaurant in Swanton for 35 years. John also worked at Fonda Container for 27 years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and biking. His favorite hobbies included woodworking, visiting and playing cards with relatives and friends and taking care of his home. John also cherished the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Imelda “Millie” Tougas of Swanton; their children, Susan Tougas of Charlotte, NC, Donald Tougas and his wife Nanette of Colchester, Richard Tougas and his wife Sarah of Enosburg and David Tougas and his wife Lorelei of Swanton; grandchildren, Leah & Billy Poggi, Matthew & Amber Nietupski, Andrew Nietupski, Justin Tougas, Adam Tougas & Jordan Lareau and Nathan & Denise Tougas; 6 great grandchildren; his brother, Clement Tougas of St. John, Quebec; 2 brothers-in-law, Jean-Guy Rainville and his wife Fernande of Fairfax and Gilles Rainville and his wife Claudette of Georgia; 3 sisters-in-law, Therese Paquette of Jericho, Lillian Rainville of St. Albans and Fernande Tougas of Swanton and several nieces & nephews. Lucy B. Montague, 99, passed away at Copley Hospital, in Morrisville, Vermont on December 14, 2017. She was born July 23, 1918, in Plattsburgh, New York to Martin and Alice Bromley. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School and Plattsburgh Normal School. A teaching position brought her to Fairfax, Vermont, where, on a blind date, she met her future husband, George Montague. They were married on November 28, 1942, in Chazy, New York. Upon their return to Fairfax, she taught school periodically in addition to raising four children. She taught 4-H, was a member of the Church Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of the Eastern Star. Lucy was an accomplished seamstress-creating entire wedding ensembles for friends and family. She had a passion for oil painting, knitting and crocheting afghans and intricate sweaters for family members. She created beautiful quilts, and each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild received one. Above all, she was a loving and caring mother. She is survived by her brother, Calvin Bromley, of Plattsburgh, New York, her daughter, Diancy Boyden and husband Frederick, son Michael and wife, Kathy, daughter Melanie Ripley and husband, Bryan, and former daughter-in-law Diane Montague. Lucy is also survived by her grandchildren: Mark Boyden and wife Lauri, David Boyden and wife, Linda, Stephanie Campbell and husband Matteo, Jason Putnam, Travis Putnam and wife Hollie, Ryan Montague and wife Aubrey, Stacie Paratore and husband, Louis. Her great-grandchildren include: Emily, Lucy and Rachel Boyden, Laurence Couture and Juliette Boyden, Ila and Reuben Campbell, Juliette and Gabrielle Paratore, and Eleanor Putnam. Lucy was predeceased by her husband, George, in November 2003, her son, Gary, in January 2017, and her sister, Doris Anderson. The family would like to thank the staff at Copley Hospital for the compassion and care Lucy received while she was there. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the A.W. Rich Funeral Home in Fairfax.  ---  Milton, Deborah (Debbie) Wright Walford, 72, of Milton, VT Passed away peacefully at Green Mountain Nursing home on December 16,, 2017. Debbie was born March 15, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio to Ralph Hull Wright and Alice List Wright. She graduated from Edinboro University in 1966, where she met her future husband of 52 years - W. James Walford. Jim and Debbie moved to Vermont in 1968 where they put down roots and started their family. Debbie started her teaching career at St. Albans Middle School, and finished at B.F.A. Fairfax after 24 years as a celebrated art teacher. During her time teaching in Fairfax, Debbie lived life on her own terms, teaching while raising a family, and earning her Master’s Degree from Johnson State College. Debbie spent time on many extracurricular activities while volunteering in the close knit community of Fairfax. Her creative spirit continued while fostering both a full time kindergarten and art programs at BFA Fairfax. She retired in 2009. Debbie lived a life combining her passion for art and the outdoors into photography, painting, and adventure. Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Jim Walford of Milton, Sister Dr. Alice Wright and RJ Potter of Milton, Brother and Sister In-law Ralph and Josette Wright of Camp Hill, PA, Sons Dylan Walford of Milton, and Graeme Walford of Cambridge, VT, Daughters In-law Kathleen Walford Kelly, Milton, and Jennifer Caswell, Cambridge. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Elaina and Miles Walford of Milton. A celebration of life will be announced in the spring of 2018

 Betty AllenWestford - Betty Lou (Wright) Allen, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 12, 2017 after a short stay at Franklin County Rehab in St. Albans, VT. She was born on October 26, 1926 at the family home in Underhill, VT, the daughter of the late Waldo and Maude (Carey) Wright. Betty grew up and attended school in Fairfax, VT where she enjoyed playing basketball. She graduated from BFA Fairfax in 1945 and went on to meet her husband of 60 years, Stearns B. Allen Sr., at a dance in Cambridge. They married June 8, 1947 and started their family. While Betty had many accomplishments during her life, what she was most proud of was her family. She cherished each one of them and the time she spent with them. Betty was a woman of great fortitude, resilience and hard work but at the same time a very kind, loyal and loving person who was in turn loved by many. Betty enjoyed being active in her community over the years and was involved with various organizations and support groups. Some of these include the Women's Society of Christian Service (WSCS) in Shelburne, the Western Covered Bridge Stompers, Alzheimer's Support Group, Binghamville United Methodist Church as a member and Trustee, Fletcher Cemetery Association, Fletcher Historical Society. She was a 10 year member of the Shelburne PTA and a long time volunteer with her late husband at the "Sugar Shack" at the Champlain Valley Fair and the Binghamville Church Suppers. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at the Fanny Allen Hospital where she made lots of great friends. Her family has fond memories of her love for playing and usually winning at cards; spending time at camp and fishing on Metcalf Pond; visiting with friends and family around the kitchen table; as well as her talent of making yummy maple baked beans.Betty is survived by her son Stearns Allen, Jr. and wife Cyndy of Cambridge, her daughter Patricia Garcia and husband José of Westford; two sisters-in-law, Beulah Blodgett Richardson and Laura Wright; five grandchildren, Cara and husband Dan St. Cyr, Kristen and husband Jason Smith, Paloma Lescieur, Shan Garcia, José Garcia and wife Jhaneth; nine great grandchildren, Shayne, Taylor, Jacob, Mason, Carlos, Ximena, Alanna, Annabelle, and Leandro. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins including a devoted niece Linda and husband Fred Bruso; her neighbor and "adopted son" Don Dingman and wife Larissa; and her beloved feline companion Merlin.Betty was predeceased by her husband, Stearns Allen, Sr. on November 1, 2007; her son, Douglas Allen; her brothers, Harold Wright, Ronald Wright and Harley Wright; sisters, Beatrice Sheltra, Olive Gates, Waldona Wright and Kathleen Wright; granddaughter, Whitney Allen; grandson-in-law, Carlos Lescieur; and great grandchild, Maria Smith.The family wishes to thank Dr. Diane Rippa for her many years of above and beyond care and the staff at Franklin County Rehab for their caring and professionalism during Betty's times at their facility.Visiting hours will be held on Saturday December 16, 2017 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT 05454. Fairfax - Tom (Tucker) Chicoine, 60, passed away in his sleep December 4, 2017 at his home in Fairfax, Vt. He was predeceased by his parents George and Theresa Chicoine of Winooski and a brother, Michael. Tom is survived by his only son, Jimmy Sweeney and his two grandchildren, four brothers: Steve, Jim, Peter, Philip, three sisters: Cynthia, Lydia, Mary, eleven nieces and nephews: Jay, Amy, Mike, Jake, Jessica, Leia, Michael, Luke, Max, Isabella, Nicholas. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
