Political Issues/Comments / Re: Political "Lie of the Year"
« on: December 23, 2010, 05:48:10 AM »
All the lies in politics, especially in political races, seem to be the norm.  Is this what happens in a world of 24/7 news coverage where the sound bite reigns?  I wish more politicians could be like these two:

If only those we elect could remember that their job is to represent us, and not themselves or the lobbyists who give them money, maybe we would be better off.

I realize that these are generalizations but I think this applies to the national political scene.  Local politics are a different matter.

I thought this might generate some interesting discussion in this thread.  Seems like the Republicans have their catchphrases memorized.

General Discussion / Re: cut your own trees in Fairffax?

Is Larry's Tree Farm on 108 just before the intersection of 108 and 36?  We're getting our tree this weekend and would love to cut one locally.

You can answer this one safely.  It is a political poll.  Once you answer they'll stop calling.  If they ask for someone other than you, for example your spouse, just say that you are that person and they will ask you two questions - who are you voting for governor (Dubie/Shumlin) and who are you voting for senator (Leahy/Britton).  Quick and easy and one less annoying phone call to screen.
