I'm not an airline specialist, but they were doing a "fly-by" (or whatever the term is) for BFA elementary students.

I don't know if she does wedding dresses, but Laurie Marnell does a lot of alterations for me. She lives in Fairfax and works in the library. I would highly recommend her!

BFA Sports Events / Re: Schedules

This is the new BFA website and this schedule was updated in April. There have been a lot of changes in the schedule lately, so you might want to call the office at school that day to see if the game is still on.

Current News & Events / Re: Water In Cambridge

I live on Main Street, Henry, and all is well here. Off course the house by the bridge is now an island, the water is over the road on the Upper Pleasant Valley Road, and the water is close to the homes on the other side of the road (across from the Village Market). I hope they don't increase my rent, though, for now having a river view!

General Discussion / Re: Red Hot Dogs Don't Appeal To Me
« on: March 27, 2011, 11:57:09 AM »
I grew up with red hot dogs in Maine. Still a big hit in my family! Didn't know they made them any other way at that time! They are also called Red Snappers because they are made with a natural casing and have a good snap when you bite in to them. I heard the red dye was added to mask the grey color of the hot dog.

Current News & Events / BFA Fairfax Unified Sports Snowshoe Team
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:08:51 AM »
On March 11th, the BFA Fairfax Unified Sports Snowshoe Team traveled for the first time with coaches and parents to Suicide Six in Woodstock, VT to compete in the 2011 Snowshoe Competition. Eighteen schools were represented by over 200 competitors. Races were divided into divisions and each athlete competed in 2-3 races.

Being our first time there we went in with the attitude to do our best and have fun while doing it. Amidst the rain and fog all day, our BFA athletes competed with a lot of heart and good sportsmanship. With the parents and coaches cheering them on and having hopes of winning a medal, they were absolutely amazing! Fairfax won 13 medals and represented our school and program with pride.

The high school athletes were Johnny Moretti and Connor Byrne coached by Tim Rich. The elementary athletes were Ian Carpenter, Gwen Jumper, Savannah Donaldson, Hannah Rainville and Hannah Weed coached by Cindy Anderson, Sandy Brown and myself.

Thanks to the parents for supporting our athletes and helping us make it through the day and to Bradely Jumper for a great bus ride! Also thanks to all of those who supported people for the Penguin Plunge - Unified Sports is supported by this event.

It was exciting to hear the athletes (and coaches) on the bus ride home already planning for next year!

Current News & Events / BFA Fairfax joins Burlington Penguin Plunge
« on: January 30, 2011, 06:17:26 PM »
BFA Fairfax has a team joining the Burlington Penguin Plunge Saturday, February 5th. The plunge is raise money and awareness for Vermont Special Olympics. BFA has a new Unified Sports Team, an elementary team and a middle/high school team that is currently practicing for a Snowshoe competition in March. The middle/high school team will also participate in Bocce in the spring. Unified Sports is unique in that partners from a team (one that qualifies for Special Olympics and one that doesn't) compete together against other teams. The effects of these athletes all working together is already showing evidence of more compassion and understanding of people's varying abilities as teammates are helping each other in the hallways and classrooms as well as in practices. We are excited for this new adventure for BFA and even more excited for our athletes.

If you want to donate to the Vermont Special Olympics, here is the link to the website or see one of us on the list. Thanks in advance for your monetary support and/or your general support of our BFA Unified Sports Team!

The stairs are still under there and are exposed when needed. The custodians just remove the "blocks". I would guess this was done 6 or 7 years ago. (time slips away quickly for me, it might have been longer)

The custodians built pieces to cover the stairs that can be removed when necessary, but are up for safety during basketball season.

Happy Birthday, Mike!
