« on: February 05, 2011, 10:17:23 PM »
I saw it in enosburg tonight.  Visability was about a foot in front of me from the snow and all of a sudden i saw two blinding flashes that lasted for about 10 sec.  Have to say this is the first time i have ever seen thunder and lightning during a snow storm.

Current News & Events / Re: Vermont State Police vs Sheriff's
« on: January 05, 2011, 05:40:03 PM »
40 minutes of radar patrol doesn't seem to be overwhelming.  I can remember a Post a while ago about the speed limit of main st changing.  What happened is "squeaky wheels got oiled".  Individuals complained about speeding in the area as well as on fletcher rd and therefore that is where traffic enforcement was set up.  I know that other area have been complained about as well but again i according to Vermont statue 23 many of the back roads are illegal posted.  Speed limit signs are not properly placed.

I have seen sheriff's cruisers on just about every road in fairfax.  You have to remember that they work both night and day.  Just because you didn't see a cruiser doesn't mean that they weren't they.  I do agree with Tammy.  Why would you consider paying overtime pay for a state trooper to patrol?

The sheriff's office does have a 24/7 dispatch center.  But calling the sheriff's office directly can waste valuable time.  As the sheriff's office only covers 40 hr a week all over calls go to the state police.  I do believe that a complaintant can request a sheriff's unit to take their complaint when they are on duty.

Current News & Events / Re: Home Invasion/Stabbing Death (of Intruder)
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:09:28 AM »
What you have to take into consideration is the use of force used to subdue the intruder.  Scenario if you for some reason shoot an individual a home invader so to say.  The first shot could be considered self defense but what about a second or a third.  It is all about how the jury of your peers see your actions. I would say the same for stab wounds.  But without more information number of stab wounds or the outcome of the investigation it is hard to say what an outcome would be.  I was always taught to stop or incapacitate the threat, and not to wound.

Current News & Events / Re: Fairfax Burglary second time same residence
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:02:03 AM »
I'm guessing that the first happened between 1100 - 1600 hrs and the second was about 1330 hrs.  This is the third burglary in the area that has happened in the daytime that i am aware of.

Current News & Events / Fairfax Burglary second time same residence
« on: October 18, 2010, 09:46:08 PM »
This is the second time in the last two weeks that 818 main st has been burglarized (home of Daryl and Nina Dudley).  The first time was on 10/4.  The home is located on route 104 last on the right after minors before the dam.  The home is only visable from one side with a series of wilderness trails behind it.  Did anyone see a suspicious individual or vehicle on or around these trails. Parked at the damn or the pull off, or in the area of the heights?

Current News & Events / Fairfax Burglary
« on: October 04, 2010, 11:49:19 PM »
Earlier today a residence on rt 104 fell victim to a burglary.  Believe the address is 818.  The home is near minors store, (the last on the right before the dam) currently being remodeled.  The home was broken into from the rear, knowing that there are numerous ATV trails behind the residence the suspect (s) maybe someone saw an abandoned vehicle in the area of the fairfax heights.  Or a suspicious vehicle in the area of the dam.  Once inside the suspect (s) took multiple electronics.  Hopefully this is just a lone incident and not the start of another rash.

This time of year there are a abundance of vehicles on our roadways.  Leep peeper or potential burglar better safe than sorry.  I did happen to run into a suspicious vehicle the other day, turned out to be an insurance agent taking photos of the property.

What i find interesting is a town cannot post a roadway below 25 mph per statue, But hunt street is posted as a visable 20MPH zone at the intersection of route 104.  Does that mean because of the invalid posting it refers to an unposted highway and is governed by a state speed zone of 50 MPH?

I'd bet that he was referring to the old speed zone that was 30 before it was extended .25 miles south towards the rainville farm.  From the majority of individuals I've talked to most have been given warnings and the ones that were given tickets were traveling over 50 mph that would be 20 mph over the well posted limit.  In my opinion that seems to be a justified violation.

Current News & Events / A new low
« on: September 02, 2010, 01:58:16 AM »
Heres the incident.  Last weekend i attended the wedding of two fairfax residences Jessica Rushford and Rob Amos.  There reception was held at the Fletcher Elementary school.  While at the wedding one of the guest decided to help themselves to the pile of wedding cards.  The suspect (s) slit the envelopes took out the cards emptied the contants and put the cards back into the pile.  I have to say its nice of them to put the cards back but, how low do you have to be to take the money out of the card.  I thought i have seen it all but this is just a new low.  Most of the guest at the wedding were from Fairfax or had ties to Fairfax.

I'm guessing not vandalism or graffiti by definition (legal definition) but at the very least a negligent operation charge would apply.  It is just to bad that people have to do this.  It makes the visual appeal of the town go down.
