Reviews / Re: iPod touch
« on: February 26, 2010, 08:40:56 AM »
I personally don't have a itouch, I have an iphone, and love it!  Especially now that at&t is opening up more 3g coverage!  Its my understanding the itouch is pretty much an iphone without the calling/texting capabilities.  The apps you can get for them are hit and miss, theres some good ones, and theres some useless ones too, but thats to be expected.  Using the Ipod part of it is nice and easy too, especially with Itunes.  The internet capabilities are nice and helpfull unless you plan on actually surfing the internet with it, it gets kinda tedious for that.  But using it for checking your e-mail, weather, facebook, espn (good app) its very usefull.

Overall I give the apple/mac products a 4.5 out of 5!  I don't think you'd be disappointed, although if your thinking about getting an itouch you might as well wait for your cell phone contract to be done and just renew with an iphone ;)

Coyote's chewing on tubing?  Huh I haven't heard of that before.  If he wants someone to try and thin the local coyote herd I'm always looking for new places to go ;)  Gives a deer hunter something to do in the winter haha

I know a lot of people are either in the middle of tapping right now, or have it all done.  I would imagine with these days in the mid to upper 30's we'll start seeing the smoke stacks come to life!

I don't necessarily agree with alot of the numbers in the ANR's Wastewater System and Potable Water Supply Rules either, and in alot of cases like this the engineer will perform a fixture count to try and get a more accurate design flow.  Just quickly trying to show the difference between the two scenarios.

When your talking design rates for water consumption between a residential unit, and commercial unit it is a little different.  For example, when designing for a residential unit it is all based on how many bedrooms are in the house, and the design rate is 70gpd (gallons per day), the first 3 bedrooms are assumed to have double occupancy.  So with an 8 bedroom home your talking a design flow of 770gpd.

When you change that same 8 bedroom residence to a commercial B&B different flows come into effect.  The bedrooms turn into "boarding house, room rentals" which is 100gpd per bedroom.  Serving meals is also considered at a rate of 50gpd per seat, so if theres a 10 chair table thats an additional 500gpd.  If theres a commercial laundry machine there to clean all the linens and such thats also an additional 500gpd.  With just this little bit of information the B&B is up to 1800gpd.  So just with these numbers the design flow for the B&B is more then doubled the residential unit eventhough its the exact same property being used.

Justin, Brian, Mike, and crew

No matter how you guys look at it, I wouldn't rather having a different crew then our fairfax fire fighters, helping save my personal property or family's lives.  You guys have a great group of guys, and I'm sure you guys, and the neighboring departments did everything you could in the little time you had.

Man!  You guys are good!  Its like fairfax CSI haha  I guess it would be more like RAI (Restaurant Anticipation Ivestigation)

I do see your perspective, and I also share your frustration with those few that do break the laws, and give us all a bad name, b/c in the long run the good ones are the ones standing up for what we like to do, and we have to try and defend them.  Which with most of the unfortunate incidents that do take place it really is quite hard to defend them.

But like I said thanks for sharing your story, and I do agree there are some bad apples, but just remember a couple bad apples doesn't mean the whole tree is bad.

And back on topic, thank god this little toddler wasn't injured in anyway.  And hopefully this kid gets a stern lesson taught

I didn't address your whole comment b/c I didn't really feel it pertained to this topic but I can if you would like.

You saying you don't walk down your road during deer season b/c of fear of the sobriety of the hunters also walking on your road, is like me saying I fear sending my child to a public school b/c of the fear of sexual predators that may work there.  Do I think that there are, I "pray to god" there isn't.

You are very correct that it is unfortunate that the actions of a few irresponsible hunters or non hunters can smear the name of the responsible outdoors men and women.  But heres a few stats for you.  What may be more unfortunate is living in a state that we outdoors people love to live in, but only have access to 8.21% of whats considered "public land".   http://www.nrcm.org/documents/publiclandownership.pdf
So yes it is unfortunate that hunters are forced into some tight areas where we are allowed to go, does that make us bad people?  I don't think so.

As for the hunters walking down the roads with their rifles, as far as I know they are not breaking any laws and shouldn't be looked as if they are.  It is my understanding in the state of Vermont you can not shoot from a public road way, you have to be 10' of the edge of the roadway before firing your firearm.  But that doesn't mean hunters can't walk on the roads with their rifles, and I'm pretty sure they can be on the roads with their firearms loaded as well.

As for deer camp, I will not deny some people go to deer camp, drink then go hunting the next morning.  But whats the difference between that and having a couple drinks after dinner at home, waking up and driving to work the next day?  I'm sorry for ranting but I'm sick of hearing the typical fat, drunk, irresponsible stereotype that we hunters have.  Maybe next deer season when you see one of us walking down your road maybe try saying hi, and ask if we had any luck, instead of running and barricading yourself in your house.  I think you'll find the majority of us are actually pretty nice, responsible people.

I hope I gave you a little perspective from the other side.

I can assure you that not all hunters are out in the woods drinking while they hunt, so the sobriety of our hunters is one of the last things I would be worried about in our society

Actually I think the discussion about the need for a police department was derived from that incident so I would think that it does have a little something to do with this title.  I'm sorry your so against random "chit chat" but then again whats a forum or blog without it?

All I'm saying is becarefull to judge.  I think alot of people will be very surprised in this case what the "thugs" will be charged with.  I garantee everyone will think it is extremely light, and that is the whole story hasn't been told.  I am in no way saying what was done was right, and my heart goes out to andy naylor and his family, and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I think living in the small community that we live in when something like this first happens everyone immediately has an opinon from the little information that is first giving, and judges all involved by this initial opinon, which is obviously what has happened so far with this unfortunate incident.  We all know this is very easy to do, but we also know it isn't the correct way to look at an unfortunate situation.  I just wish everyone would hold judgement on all involved untill the whole story would come out and then view it how you would like.
