General Discussion / Re: coffee
« on: January 06, 2012, 12:13:13 PM »

Ed,

I drink 6-8 cups daily --- God's best liquid --- Better than Maple Syrup !!

Addictive Drug --- oh yeah ---  massive Headaches if I don't have my morning 'fix' ...

Maybe the Boys in DC could cut the deficit with additional Taxes on our favorite beverage .. ( treat coffee like ciggerettes )

Heck  no -- go tax the Maple Syrup producers --- that stuff makes you fat ...

What's next ?  disposal fees on contimated plumbing supplies ??

Folks,

Lots of interesting discussion on this topic.  I am more interested since I received an E-Reader for my Birthday.

I don't have an opinion yet .. but I compare the digital books to digital music .... We all knw othe music industry has change dramtically due to music sharing, legal and non-legal sharing of songs ...

The Publishers are actively protecting themselves and their authors of this same plight as the music industry.

How much free sharing is good ?  What is the best way to meter the useage ?

Libraries purchase licenses for each book.  Makes sense to me,  that the electronic version is loaned ina serial fashion only --- Each borrower gets x amount of time to use the book.   Say 7 days -- then th reader loses the file on his e-reader -- it expires ---  The next borrower on the list ( Must build automated electronic wiating lists ) will have his shot at the title and os on ..

And - How the nig question for me --- How many times should the library be able to 'loan' the electronic version ?   My open question in this area was asked by our good friend ...  How many times can a library book be loaned out ?  What is the average library life a hardcopy novel ?

All interesting questions ---  Note,  i Bought my first electronic book,  I think it will be my last,  the local librarries have more reading materials in electronic form than I will ever be able to read ----

Chris,

Thanks for posting.  Interesting perspectives.    Since I no longer live in the Green Mountain state,  I won't comment.

Like Rod Anode's response .. 3 Stooges they are ... and the bacon is flowing in NE VT.

Interesting how the Feds can allocate these types of funds with our  $15T deficit ....  I would think the locals would pay for down-town infrastructure improvements ..

BFA was very fortunate to have Bruce McCrae as their music leader.   When I attended BFA,  he loved his job,  his school, his program and his students.  He had Passion for his craft and wanted to share it whenever possible.  In addition,  he served his country well too !!

On a more personal note,  my last memory of Bruce,  he played 'Taps' for a fellow BFA Graduate and very dear friend , one of Bruce's star musicians and fellow miliary man,  Glenn Clokey,  class of 1978.    Not sure how Bruce pulled it off .. I'll never forget that moment.

I wish Bruce and his family a happy next chapter of life !  Maybe he can play his trumpet until he is 101 !!

Sincerely,   Mike McNall  -- BFA Class of 1977

My count ---  39 years ? ?  ?  -- I'm open for corrections too -- if lives immediately I guess it would be  38.5 years -- wow -- now that is a good run ..

This very nice memories of Bruce .. mostly good -- with a couple of bad - but no one's perfect !!

Dr. Mann was Gramp and Gram's Docter  -- they thought the world of him.

Mike M .

FRI -- Gramp =  Raymond McNall
         Gram =   Vera McNall

Henry,

Your administrative call and I understand your approach.

Given this was as a public hearing,  you published the approved public meeting minutes.

The public should know what happened, was the hearing detail reported in the SA Messenger ?  or perhaps Fairfax News ?

I obviously have no dog in the fight -- just wonderin'  if the public record was reported via the local media ..

OK -- Did you guys use hand-sets of Hands-Free Devices ?   Sounds like a government study should be done ---  Accidents while using CB Radios versus Accidents while talking on Cells ----

Sounds like a good project for our government to spend money on ??
