@ Mike: I think you're attempting humor by stereotyping an individual who might attend a Grateful Dead show, but not that funny.

Reviews / Valentine's Day
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:52:01 PM »
It is a rare day when my wife and I can go to the movies. Today we had the opportunity to attend without our 21 month old daughter and we went to see Valentine's Day. It was a good story, well worth a matinee fee. Its a love story on multiple fronts, that eventually in some way can be linked to one another. Think 7 Degrees of Seperation, gone Valetine's Day with friends.

Either way, I thought it was a good movie and if you are lucky enough to go to the movies, I would recommend this.

Thankfully I don't drive a red Mini. I will never reveal what I drive, as half of the people on this here bulletin have likely been passed by me. (You can take the boy of MA, but you can't take the MA driving out of the boy).

Anyway, I was at the Verizon Center to see the Grateful Dead. Sadly, Jerry was not there. But still a fantastic concert none-the-less. Played from 8 to midnight, with a 30 minute intermission. Next time, we can all go together and we can all claim to have run into someone just like I did.

So I am in Manchester, NH last night for a concert and during the intermission I started to talk with the couple sitting behind me. They start off by telling me they are from Burlington, VT and I tell them I am from Fairfax. Well it turns out that they too were from Fairfax. We were quizzing each other about Fairfax, as we couldn't believe we would end up sitting next to each other at a random event 200 miles away from our homes.

It's a small world...

@ Julie: I pass you all every morning between the 5:45 and 6:15 every morning, for probably three years now. I always feel bad that my high beams might be bothering you, as I usually don't shut them off when you are running towards me. I hope you understand why, I simply don't want to lose site visibility and as a runner myself, it has never in return bothered me.

Maybe tomorrow morning I will honk to say hi. But how do I know which group you will be in? Usually its two groups of two people who run seperately. Keep it up!

Oh come on ... It's for the kids!

Just vote Yes -  to whatever they ask for ... what makes you ask such a question?

Remember - It's for the kids!

Are your comments intended to be sarcastic or for real? I read it both ways.

Serious question though to whom ever could answer it; how many people attend these sporting events? What is the intended return on investment? (ROI)

I would be game for anything...My personal pet peeve, more so than getting bathrooms built by a football field, would be to return fireworks to Fairfax. How could we ever raise money for something like that as a group?

Either way, I'd like to meet some of you folk!

Political Issues/Comments / Re: Bill Would Ban School Before Labor Day
« on: February 09, 2010, 07:00:14 PM »
the whole notion behind banning school before labor day is ridiculous. What does it matter when our kids go to school? How bout we ban summer breaks and give them winter breaks instead. Think of the $$$ saved on heating. I hate politics.

I am cracking another one open...

Ciao

There better be my Green Tea on tap, or else I am going to be very disappointed.

and yes, if there was a local bar, I would love to go it. I am already picturing which one of you is the appropriate corresponding character in Cheers.

so far...

@trussell: Fraiser
@Mummy: Lilith
@Henry: Coach
@mirjo: Cliff
@ Mike Rayburn: Norm

it's a start anyways.

Selling alcohol at a high school is so incredible wrong I can't begin to tell you how wrong it is. I was so incredible joking and seriously doubt any high school in Texas allows this. I made that 'stat' up. So yes, I agree if we sold alcohol at Fairfax HS football games, the team would have a dome and one of those Jerry Jones television sets too!

We would make the news for the first drunk driver to drive across a field while the game was in progress. A girlfriend of a player, who is 22 (but dating a 17 year old), would get drunk and would find out that her boyfriend was also dating a cheerleader. The pursuing fight would be the #1 video in YouTube's history...

The more I think about it, the town could make a lot of money. But what a great and immoral community we would live in. I am so torn. See what sarcasm leads to? Choices...  :-)

Current News & Events / Re: No need for a Fairfax Police Department

@ trussell: This was probably the most interesting information posted in the past week on this topic. Good information to know and have. In regards to the town government saying 'too much' liability...I just don't get that. I could see them saying there is too much liability if they wanted to build an outdoor pool, but how could liability be an issue for a public service such as LE. Is there liability, sure I suppose. But isn't liability worth it for something like this? Anyway, I think the only solution is to have a coupe and install a monarchy to run Fairfax. I am going to need some Lords and Dukes. Please email me your resumes... :-)

Wait five years and we will be debating why Fairfax should or shouldn't spend $500,000 on astro turf and lights for the football games. And when the town agrees to spend the money, you will all be coming to me to consult Fairfax on how to  run the food stand people want built. I will consult on the ethics and business opportunities that alcohol at high school games can bring a small town like Fairfax and I will reference 17 counties in Texas and Alabama that already do this.
