How old is your tv? Does it have a built in digital tuner? If not, you won't receive any over the air programming no matter what kind of antenna you use. You would need a digital converter box in that case.

We use this antenna https://store.gomohu.com/the-leaf-ultimate-hdtv-antenna.html

Before we got this antenna, I was getting a decent signal from an amplified antenna like the Terk you bought. We get all the networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CW, and PBS). We live near the church in binghamville. I would be surprised if you couldn't pick up any signal where you live.

We ate there on Saturday and they told us a new expanded menu is coming soon. Looking forward to seeing what they've come up with!

My family really enjoyed the beef tenderloin we got from you the other week for our Valentines Day family dinner last night.

Thanks,

I will be there representing the anti-union perspective and will try and convince State Senator Don Collins that we don't need the legislature to establish a union for childcare workers in the state. A union will not improve childcare in Vermont and will only make the cost of care go up in the state, which is exactly what parents don't need. The Govenror's proposed budget already allocates money for increased subsidy rates for which is something those behind this unionization effort have been asking for. Vermont is already the healthiest state in the country, and the legislature is working on ways to make healthcare more affordable for everyone. With the top 2 issues already being addressed in the legislature, there is absolutely no reason for a union to be formed. I hope I can convince our newly elected senator.

My wife and I have been on both sides of the fence regarding this topic. We have shelled out a significant portion of our annual income to send our two children to daycare so we could both work outside of the home and several years ago my wife left her job at a bank in Burlington to open up a registered daycare in our home. Neither of us believe a union would improve childcare in Vermont nor will it really improve working conditions for those in the industry.

Hope to see some of you in Highgate tonight!

Thanks,
Todd Baumeister

Current News & Events / Re: Petition For Funding For Bookmobile
« on: January 10, 2013, 02:04:47 PM »
Is it possible for the text from the petition to be posted here for people to review?

I am on both the Fletcher School Board and the Franklin West Supervisory Union Board and the following is my opinion and not the opinion of either board.
At our last FWSU board meeting, the superintendent brought a request from the people that run the Bookmobile asking for funds from the SU to replace money no longer available from a particular grant. In exchange for the funding, the Bookmobile would visit each community x number of times based on the size of the town and how much they contributed. My sense is that the FWSU board members did not want to increase the budget for all schools in the district for something that wasn't directly related to the students in the district. We agreed that each individual school board could discuss the topic at their own board meetings and make a decision on what was best for their town.

I believe bookmobile funding was an agenda item at each of the FWSU member's next school board meeting. In Fletcher, we voted against it. My wife runs a daycare out of the home and we both felt that this was not a good use of taxpayer dollars in our town. I believe the Bookmobile said they would come to Fletcher 10 times a year. In the past they just parked at the school parking lot and were available to those who drove to the school to take advantage of the service. This service is intended to be geared towards daycare providers in the area. In reality it is quite difficult bundle up all the kids at the daycare, load them into a vehicle and transport them to the school for an hour. We would not have been frequent users of the service (and we are one of the closest daycares to the Fletcher Elementary School). In talking to some of the other providers in town, we got similar feedback (that it would likely go unused). With this feedback, I voted against promising funds from the school budget for this request.

We keep lots of books in our daycare for the kids to read or be read to. My wife pays for a membership to the Fairfax Library and regularly reserves books via their website and picks them up at a convenient time. This brings a variety of new books into the program for kids to enjoy. I also know the Fairfax Library has reading hours for children in town, where the librarian or another volunteer will read to those who come at the appointed time (which would be the same as driving to the Bookmobile). For these reasons, I don’t see the Bookmobile as a good use of Town or School budget dollars.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Todd Baumeister

Current News & Events / Re: Country Pantry closed tonight

I hope they are doing well. We have had several good meals there since they opened and they are now at the top of our list when we are looking for a convenient place to eat out on short notice.

The previous few iterations of the restaurant (after the Vermont Breakfast Company closed) were not on our list at all after eating there a couple of times. My family is very happy with the current offering.

How much more time and money is the Shumlin administration going to waste chasing federal dollars we are never going to get?

What are the official hours for the Country Pantry?

I sent a friend there last night around 5:45pm and they were closed.

General Discussion / Re: Take Out

I agree that the food is very good for the price. Even though the service was a little slow when we went which was their second night in business (and first Friday night), the Country Pantry is back in our rolodex now. We will definitely go back!

Just got back from the new Country Pantry Diner. The food was very good, the kids menu was cheap, and the service was friendly. Tonight was their first real night of business and it was busy. As expected the service was a little slow, but I'm sure they will work that piece out. We will go back.

Like mkr, I had the chicken carbonara and it was excellent. My wife enjoyed her steak with wild rice and grilled vegetables.

I too can be counted as a satisfied customer at last night's chicken pie supper! Everything was delicious!

The lasagna supper is an annual fundraiser for the 6th grade class trip. If I remember correctly the menu includes Lasagna, salad, bread, and usually strawberry shortcake for desert. My family and I always enjoy that meal.

<SET HEAVY SARCASM ON>

With the speed limit officially changed on Fletcher Rd yesterday, Franklin County's newest speed trap was open for business this morning!

On my way into work this morning, I was unsurprised to see a member of the Franklin County Sherriff's Office had a car pulled over on Fletcher Rd.

While I don't believe any accidents/injuries will be prevented with the speed limit adjustment, Fairfax should be able to pay off its proposed $9000 website by Q1 2013.

<SET HEAVY SARCASM OFF>

This speed limit change is going to take some getting used to. Don't forget to slow down.
