Current News & Events / More mischief in town

I don't know if anyone else had a problem, but this past Thursday night between 10pm and 4:30am, both of my vehicles were "broken" into (they were unlocked- does that count as "broken"?) in my driveway, about 1/2 mile north of Joyal Fuels.  It doesn't appear that anything was taken, but everything had been gone through- glovebox, backpack, gym bag (I'm sure my sneakers were a nice surprise!)... I'm sure they were only looking for cash, but the doors were left wide open so maybe I scared them away when I got up at 1:30.

Just thought I'd pass on more encouraging news while I sit here cleaning my Glock.

Current News & Events / Citizens for Fairfax Community

Do you or your organization need SPACE?

As the Fairfax community grows larger, finding suitable meeting and activity space has become more difficult.  Many use the school or church basements, but often they lack the space or amenities needed.  A wonderful asset to any community- ours included- is a community center where those things would be available.

We are asking for input from citizens to help define how such a center would be used.  As a supporting individual or organization, you will be a part of the planning process adding valuable input regarding development, size, building layout and numerous other aspects.

We are not planning to rely on taxpayers' money for this project; but instead are looking at grants, contributions and nominal fees for those who might use the center.

We typically meet on the 3rd Monday of the month, so please join the Citizens for Fairfax Community to help us plan for this exciting and much needed addition to our town.

For more information, or if you belong to an organization or know of one that would benefit from a community center, please contact us.

Thank you,

Trevor Russell, on behalf of C.F.C.

Current News & Events / Tornado Watch???

FYI-

Tornado watch issued for all of Vermont
June 10, 2008

The National Weather Service has issued a rare tornado watch for all of Vermont until 6 p.m. today.

Thunderstorms are developing in New York State. Conditions are ripe for many of these storms to become severe, Weather Service meteorologists said. Some storms will cause very strong winds, large hail and a possibly a few tornadoes.

The first thunderstorms should arrive in Vermont by 2 p.m. today, forecasters said. Any of those storms could produce tornadoes, large hail or destructive winds. Another vicious line of storms is expected to arrive in Vermont by 6 or 7 p.m., forecasters said.

Meteorologists caution that although those are the most likely times for storms, dangerous storms could develop anywhere in Vermont at any time for the rest of the day.

People all over Vermont should be on the alert for rapidly changing weather and seek safe shelter if weather turns threatening. Stay tuned to National Weather Service weather radio, and the Burlington Free Press Web site for updates on the impending dangerous weather.

Current News & Events / Unicel Outage

To all Unicel customers- I haven't had service for several hours, and according to their customer service number, they are "currently experiencing a system outage affecting both mobil-to-mobil and landline-to-mobil calling".  (They do appreciate our patience though) :)
