We live on 128 in Westford, and last week I had a young woman on a bicycle stop to talk about the alternate home heating thing as well.  They did the same thing last year, and it was a young man in that case, again on a bike.  I do believe that in this case they are legitimate,  they even handed out the same pamphlet both times.  But back to the subject, I am all for signing a petition to protect your home and loved ones from this increase in home invasions.  It is very scary and does need to stop.

Hey Tom: I make the same recipe except I use
        Franks Hot Wing sauce
1/2c blue cheese instead of Ranch
2c. roasted chicken, chopped instead of canned

always a hit, no matter how you make it!  It all tastes great.

I am so sorry to hear this news.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Wills family, and the Bessette family.  Jeannette was a great woman and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be missed greatly.

As far as equipment being not road worthy that may be true for a few farmers here and there, but I can tell you the majority of farmers do their best to make sure that if their equipment travels on public roadways that it is safe.  There are those few out there, as with anything that give good farmers who try their best a bad rap. Most farmers DO have insurance on their trucks, have them inspected and registered annually.  The fines if caught without proper paperwork is not worth it.  Nobody sets out to endanger the lives of themselves or others, that is not the intention of anyone.  As for the smell, what do you want? It's like Josh said "Welcome to Vermont"  it's an inconvenience to one's senses a few weeks out of the year, farmers try their best to make it as quick and painless as possible.  It is certainly not our favorite job either, but it is a necessary one that needs to be done.  When enjoying your sweet corn, eating your ice cream cones, and putting milk on your cereal, remember all the hard work that went into producing it.

Very unhappy about the write up in Seven Days. No need to be so crude, and vulgar.  I guess she missed the Nativity scene frozen in front of them.  However, many people do like them and look forward to seeing them every year, as they are becoming a traditional landmark in the winter.

I was 9 years old when we did South Pacific!  I loved it, and still remember some of the songs! What great fun that was!

The old fire station was in the same location that is now home to the Fairfax Historical Society.  Right across from Ross's Auto.  The station was torn down by Patry Excavating.  My parents Lucien and Carol Hayes owners of the former Hayes-Rich Funeral Home donated the building that once housed their caskets, to the town as the historical society building. The building was then moved across the street to where it sits today.

As a former female member of the Fairfax Fire Dept. for 6 years, I was never offended when they thanked the "guys".  I always knew what was meant.  But yes, there are currently 2 female firefighters on the department, and they both do a wonderful job, though one of them is currently serving our country overseas.  The whole department does a great job, and I am proud of everything that they all do.  What a great team they are, and I was very proud to serve with the guys, and gal (at the time).

Hit Westford too around 6.  Had to get the generator running to finish milking the cows.

How come they charge for an obituary, but wedding announcements and birth announcements are both free?  That I just don't understand.
