Congrats to Colin and Mary Kay for a great job of organizing yesterday's events.  Great turnout and fun was had by all.  GOOD JOB..

As an observer I have to say, in defense of the Handys, I did not see any one else stepping up to buy "junk" properties and make them into presentable homes, rid the community of some questionable folks that made other people's lives miserable, and tear down a building that was an eye sore and dangerous to the community.  Sure there is investment on a scale to which Fairfax is not accustomed; however, much of it is for the better.  My opinion.

Good turnout for the legislative breakfast on Saturday at the fire house.  It is unfortunate that more folks from Fairfax do not attend these events where the Franklin County Delegation is there.  I think there may have been 10 or so Fairfax residents.  Also interesting is the inquiries and concerns of those in attendance in that none of the "big ticket" items were brought up much at all.  Those being budget deficit and education reform.

-27 degrees at our house this a.m.  A bit chilly but the sheep don't seem to mind it!

Barbara
I think your committee assignment is great!  It is one I wanted and never got.  I know you will do well in Montpelier for Fairfax and look forward to the dialog throughout the session.  If you need any advice call me.  I think you will find that not many folks choose to communicate with you unless it is a hot topic.   John M ( former representative for Fairfax)

Good luck Barbara and I know you will represent us well during your time in Montpelier.  Fiscal restraint and no increase in taxes would satisfy my interests.  It will be a challenging session as the past couple of sessions have been.  Good luck.   John M

That's great Barbara.  Now the real work of legislating begins.  It certainly will be a difficult session and I know you are up to the task of being reasonable with your votes in Montpelier.  Just remember "no new taxes"!  John M

I guess my question would be what does a Colchester Democrat, Jim Condon, have to do with Fairfax???  We are a different community and one needs to realize that  we might not be the same as Colchester!!  I still say VOTE FOR BARBARA!

Political Issues/Comments / Barbara Murphy
« on: October 11, 2014, 08:48:30 AM »
I would like to give my support to Barbara Murphy by endorsing her campaign to represent Fairfax in Montpelier for the ensuing session.  I have known Barbara and her family for 30 years and have admired her ability to deal with situations in every facet of life.  She is one who does not shrink from the face of adversity and will always express her opinion succinctly and clearly.  She has served Fairfax well over the years by being involved with the school board, town boards, church boards and she serves the larger community by her involvement with Franklin County Home Health.  BARBARA IS A LEADER!

Barbara's demeanor, political intention and articulate manner are what are needed in the State House in my opinion at this time.  We need to have a voice that will express our desire for no new taxes, reasonable logic in our approach to health care, restructuring education finance and governance, and in general a person that will cast her vote with knowledge of the subject and representation of our community.  Barbara is that person and I strongly urge folks to vote for her on November 4.  Moderation is needed to put the brakes on our state government's direction.  So please VOTE FOR BARBARA.     State Representative  John Mitchell

Well deserved and Tom and Randy should be recognized.  Good job Dave for bringing it to the forefront.  John M

The 3 candidates for State Representative are Barbara Murphy, Chris Santee and Bob Shea.

Peter did a fine job as chair of the committee and the process worked in the way it was intended.  The voters in the town should exercise their right to vote and choose the representative who best represents their views.  Thanks Peter and Karen thanks for the pies.  John M

As the treasurer for the Trustees, I will say we are happy to support the efforts of the library staff.  It is our mission to support activities relating to the youth of our community.   Good job!  John Mitchell
