Mom reminded me that my Great-Grandparents used to live in that house before they up-rooted and moved to Maple Street.

I happened to see Sam Hudson this morning. He said there are a lot of variables in the root system. It can depend on the soil. If there is a hardpan a few feet down, the roots are more likely to spread than go deep. The type of tree can determine the root system as well. The right soil, the roots may go down 10-15 feet. The roots are the anchor, so if you have a very tall tree, and the soil is good, you may have deep roots. Not sure how deep the roots go on Hunt Street. I do know there is a lot of clay around.
