Pictures of the DayMy raingauge Saturday morning.A very full Lamoille RiverMore mud.ODDS AND ENDS, NEWS AND NOTES, CATCHING UP.....It's been a while.......
Well, I finally threw in the towel and admitted that it's fall. I cleaned out the gas heater in the front room and got that fired up Saturday. Sigh. Summer is really over. Maybe we can have an Indian summer. Or does that happen in September.
Thursday night I read to some pre-school kids on behalf of the fire department in the Library. There wasn't anyone to take pictures, so I couldn't post anything. It went well. Talked about plans of action in case of emergency, "stop, drop, and roll", and showed off my fire gear. Thanks to Patricia Hendee for putting my gear on.
All this rain is a little worrysome. We are getting quite a bit, and the ground is pretty well saturated. If a really major storm were to come, like the one a couple weeks ago, we could be in trouble. I heard as much as 6 inches fell in the mountains from that one. If that storm were to happen again, it could be shades of 1927.
The museum season on Sundays is over. We are still open by appointment until it gets really cold where I need to shut the water off. Last year I gave a tour to some Cub Scouts in early December while it was still warm.
This political season seems to be kinda strange. A lot of nasty ads, even on the local level on all sides. Of course, I watch the morning news out of Los Angeles, and their big fight is for Governor. A lot of slamming ads there. And this is just the opening act. When this election is done, the 2012 Presidential race begins. I'm sure that will be ugly as well.
