Heard this air-horn blowing, then saw this big cement truck with 1000s of lights drive by the house, honking all the way up the road as it headed towards Fletcher - Anyone know anything about it or who might be driving it - I think SD Ireland decorates a truck like that every Christmas and that might have been it.

I did find this article on the SD Ireland Cement truck - It was supposed to be up in Stowe today:

I got a call at work a few minuntes ago. I know the truck went up past my house on Fairfax Road. The kids were very excited to see it!

Hi Henry,
I got this picture of the cement truck with all the lights outside Vermont Toy and Hobby in Essex last year.

JoAnne

Thanks Jo,

I wish I had had a little warning - it was going right along and thought of calling Todd up in Fletcher, but knew at the rate he was going, he would have probably already gone past his place - Haven't heard anything from the village down here, but am assuming he must have gone through the village.

The picture is of a Griswold truck you can see the name on the door.  Pretty cool, someone has more patience than me.

Well, still no word from anyone else that saw the brightly lighted cement truck go up the Fletcher Road - Just Maryann & I and Todd's kids - I noticed on the S. D. Ireland Calendar that at some of its stops, Santa Claus also makes an appearance - Very few questions we can't get an answer to on this forum, but this may be one of them.  I would think going up this road, the only destination would be Fletcher as there are better routes to Cambridge and Fairfield.

Is the company actually named Griswold?

If so that is way funny.

Remember the movie "Christmas Vacation" where Clark Griswold decks out his house in lights?

I was out shoveling, when I heard the horns.
I turned to Fairfax Town Office and around the corner,
comes this huge cement truck all lit up.

I ran inside and got everyone to the windows
as it stopped at the Library at BFA.

It honked a few times and headed out.

Take Care & God Bless,

S. T. Griswold is a cement company located in Williston. My brother, Carl, worked there for 20-some years. Lots of other townspeople worked there as well. Steele Griswold got his start by doing the cement work for a missle site in Highgate(?), back in the 50's or 60's.
