Does anyone have a description of the cat they could post? Those of us in the area could keep an eye out for it.

Current News & Events / Re: Cell Tower Going Up At The Old Nichols Farm
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:04:18 PM »
I don't think they're done. I read the tower was to be 100' tall and this looks about 60 feet. Many cell towers have antennae half-way up as well as on top, that could be what's been installed today.

The sign overhead that reads "Brews" and has a little beer mug leads me to believe they are beer taps and they'll be rotating the selection. The juice cans could be mixers seeing as there's also a tray for cocktail garnish to the right.

I saw the Fox 44 truck drive by so they might have the story on tonight's news.

Georgia Fire is also responding. Hope everyone is OK.
And Jenn, I was just about to call you and make sure you were all fine when I saw your post!

We've brought the cat in a couple of times because of the cold, but he always goes back out. Must be hopping from house to house - he's probably got a good thing going!  Enough people are keeping an eye on him so if an owner turns up it shouldn't be too hard to reunite them.

Announcements / Re: Looking For Tax Preparers For Non Seniors

A few years ago I was a volunteer tax-preparer at Franklin/Grand Isle Community Action, next to Subway in St. Albans. They will prepare taxes for low-income individuals. However, they do not itemize or prepare schedules. Just 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, VT State taxes and accompanying state forms for renter deductions, etc. Not sure if they still do it. Call 527-7392 for more info.

A gray cat has been hanging around our house and living in our garage since about Monday, Jan 18.
We are on Nichols Road in North Fairfax. He seems healthy so he must belong to someone.
If this is your cat, please call 527-3923.

Current News & Events / Re: Snow Day

It's nice there is an automated phone system so parents don't have to look up the school closing. However, I don't have any kids in school and tend to use the closings as a guide of road conditions. As in, if the roads are clear enough for kids to get to school, than I should be okay going out. I was surprised when I didn't see any Franklin County schools closed on TV, but now I know to check this site before making any driving plans!

Big difference in weather from the concert last year. The temp dropped quite a bit while at the concert with snow coming down. Made for very dangerous driving.

Current News & Events / Re: New Restaurant In St. Albans

I've also been 3 times. Once for apps, once for dinner, and once for dessert and every time was OK. Nothing spectacular, but it tasted good, the restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. We brought our young daughter for dinner and ended up sharing our meals with her rather than ordering for her. There is no kids menu but there are plenty of Sides to chose from.

Warning about dessert: Ask for prices! There is no menu, they just tell you what is offered that day and don't mention the prices. If we'd known the prices we probably wouldn't have ordered or shared a dessert. I think my husband's apple crisp cost $9.00 and my chocolate cake was $8.00.

Henry, I am with you. I have been prepping my coffee the night before for about 10 years and have often forgotten a crucial step. As I am the only coffee-drinker in my house I considered getting the single-cup maker, but there's something nice about having the coffee waiting for me whenever I get around to drinking it.
