General Discussion / Re: The Invasion Of The Naked Body Scanner

Those individuals that are complaining about going through the scanner are also those that would be the first to criticize the TSA if something got through that caused harm to others.

Kids are still at school to the best of my knowledge.  I have not heard anything to the contrary.

That is one of the best Christmas presents for the families of these individuals!  I am looking forward to seeing several friends who will be part of the group coming back.

seems like an error/oversight of this nature should have been rectified prior to election day.

Current News & Events / Re: BFA cutting down on the arts?
« on: October 06, 2010, 01:29:44 PM »
It would be interesting to know the reason for the cutback before people start speculating.

I am a firm believe that both sports and drama/music programs are very important to building a child's foundation.  However, as has been pointed out to me several times when speaking on the issue of full day kindergarten, times are tough and cutbacks need to be made.  I do believe that these programs can continue with support from the community (i.e. booster clubs, etc.) and with support from the parents of the children participating.  My children participate in club sports (baseball & soccer) and as such WE as parents pay for their participation, not tax payers.  Perhaps that is how school sports and other extracurricular activities will go in the future as well.

Current News & Events / Re: Backlash Over Border Closure
« on: June 07, 2010, 08:11:19 AM »
Be careful what you wish for!  Obviously when a landowner is forced to give up 2 1/2 acres of land they are not going to be happy with that.  None of us would be.  The Rainville's were going to be compensated for their land.  Additionally, it was 2 1/2 acres out of hundreds.  If losing 2 1/2 acres out of hundreds was going to force them out of business than they could not have a very financially sound business to begin with.  While the necessity of a new border crossing can certainly be questioned and rightfully should we must look at the overall impact of what closing this crossing all together will mean to not only the drivers coming into and out of the US but also to the impact on national security.  This story has made national news.  It is conceivable that a terrorist who is planning a future attack on the United States could utilize this information in planning such an attack.

People need to understand exactly what they are asking for and supporting before they do so.

That's why I like caller id.  If I don't recognize the # and don't feel like talking to one of these people I don't.  Sometimes I will just to get rid of them because I know they'll continue to call back.

That's true that BFA has a locked front door and you need entrance by person at front desk.  However, there are ways into the building.  If somebody is coming out of one of the other doors people can get in.  I've done it myself when picking up my children.

This Sunoco station is the one next door to the Williston State Police barracks!  Must have been pretty brave (or stupid).

Political Issues/Comments / Re: illegal imigrants
« on: March 17, 2009, 12:02:53 PM »
Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) DOES send illegal immigrants back when they are caught.  However, DHS doesn't have an endless supply of $$ to go after every illegal immigrant that is in this country.  Bottom line it comes down to money.

Current News & Events / Re: And Now Cell Phone Telemarketers
« on: March 17, 2009, 09:16:13 AM »
Just like your home phone you will need to register your cell phone# on the Do Not Call list.  I believe you can do it online at www.donotcall.gov.  I too started receiving these calls about a year or so ago and signed up for the do not call list and have not received any more.

Closed last week.  Re-opened under new ownership today.  Anyone who watches the news & knows previous owner will understand why it was probably sold.
