Any idea what he is driving??  Someone pulled into our driveway late yesterday afternoon in a truck but didn't come to the door.  I had wondered if they had engine trouble but now I am wondering if it could be this person.

Thank you Logical.  If I am gasping for each breath and am experiencing chest pain, the $1700 is going to seem like peanuts if you are told you have to wait for AMCARE to arrive from St. Albans.  And Fairfax Rescue who is "NOT" part of our town??  They are VOLUNTEERS who are your neighbors who will get out bed in the middle of the night to go to your bedside, who miss out on family activities away from home because they are on call in case YOU need them and are possibly at your child's football game for their sake and safety.  No, they are not part of our town and deserve no support from us in the least.

Not only would the cost per person increase, the time in arriving to the scene would be greatly increased depending on where your "rescuers" would be coming from.

The roads in town this morning (around 6:30 a.m.) were the worst I've seen so far this winter.  Fletcher Road & Main hill were quite bad.  Not sure about the interstate since I take the bus but there is no snow in Burlington.

Current News & Events / Country Pantry closed tonight

Does anyone know why they are closed tonight?  Didn't know if there was an issue because of the weather but hoping the closure isn't permanent.

We were among the lucky people to go to the Pantry last night for dinner and were extremely pleased with the meals we had.  Mike had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and I had Fish & Chips.  I fear my meatloaf will never hold a place of honor in his eyes again.  My fish was perfectly cooked, tender, moist, the coating was wonderful and home-made french fries.  We didn't wait long for our meal and the waitstaff was timely.  I was impressed by the owners and their knowledge of the restaurant business and their desire to succeed in our community.  I hope everyone gives The Country Pantry a try and if you enjoy it, please spread the word.  I would like to see them achieve their goal.

I grew up having pancakes on Ash Wednesday as well.  I guess we will be having pancakes when we get home from the gym tonight!  Thanks for the reminder Henry.

"I vote for the gun over an alarm system!  In the event of an intruder, I want action not noise but that is just me."

I would vote for a pump shotgun....the sound of the shell being chambered by the pump action would be enough to strike fear in even the most stupid of criminals!  Just the thought makes me smile!

Announcements / Re: New Health Club Opening In Georgia
« on: June 17, 2011, 07:09:13 AM »
My husband and I have joined the new gym in Georgia and are very impressed.  I hope the community embraces this new business and allows it to grow and flourish.  I think it is a wonderful addition to the area.  Having them on my way home is a huge bonus vs the option of driving to St. Albans to utilize a health club.
