So Saturday is Green Up day in VT...anyone know if there are certain "green bags" we need to use to contribute cleaning up our neighborhoods, or do we use our own trash bags and put them out for trashday?
Thank you

General Discussion / Take Out
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:19:54 AM »
So my wife and I decided to get take out from The Country Pantry the other night.  We are one of those families that have had unsatisfactory meals and service from there in the past.  We obviously want to see the restaurant succeed but for us three strikes and you are out.  Now again that it has re-opened we wanted to try out the food first and after the restaurant has been up and running for a while and got all the new "kinks out" then we will try the actual restaurant and service.
So with that said, I got the buffalo chicken wrap and my wife got the Pesto chicken...I must say they were both delicious.  GOOD START!  Well done new owners...we will continue to try the take out foods...experiment with the menu....once we continue to hear positive feedback about the service and such or even another month in, we will hopefully sit down to a nice lunch/dinner at our "new" successful restaurant.  Good Luck Country Pantry

General Discussion / Handguns
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:31:31 AM »
So my family and I have only been in VT for the last 3 yrs....with all of these recent breakins, my wife and I have been discussing owning a handgun, especially with 2 little children in the house.  We are very responsible people and have every intention of locking this weapon away and kept out of reach of the children of course.
So this brings me to my question: Is it true that you dont need a permit or a license to purchase or carry a handgun or rifle in VT?  My home state of MA has much different laws I hear, I want to make sure I am following the laws of this great state.  Thank you, any input you could provide would be appreciated

General Discussion / Gas Stove
« on: May 10, 2011, 02:19:27 PM »
We just recently purchased a new gas cooking stove from home deport.  I was unaware of the law Vermont has to where the company needs to be gas certified to unhook and reconnect these gas cooking stoves.  Home Deport is not certified in doing this.  We have to call someone, that is certified to now do this for us...anyone know of a local who is certified in doing this.  Seems silly that a simple disconnect/reconnect will end up charging addtl costs.  I do understand the protocol I guess, safety first

Reviews / 'Con'Cast
« on: December 03, 2010, 09:18:12 AM »
So a few months back I posted that I was getting Comcast finally and was excited to get it because of the higher speeds of internet and the other services they provide.  A few of you told me that the customer service was terrible but my salesman was so convincing that I would get great service, I went through with the install.  THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE that keeps happening like groundhog day.  They had to come back a second time to fix the phone line because it wasnt done correctly, per their technician, we opened up 4 different tickets with customer service because they kept on saying that they were closed so therefore thought the work was done......YES 4!!  So where are we now??.......Comcast STILL has not come to do the groundwork for the line coming to our house.  The pole is in my neighbors yard and they were nice enough to allow ConCast to place a "temporary" line in their yard.  Well after many, many, many phone calls, talking with managers promising phone calls back, that were never received, we still have yet to get this resolved.  Being in the telecom business I know that digging at this time of yr is probably out of the question.  Sooooo it looks like Concast already lost a customer, we will be cancelling this service and not returning.  Dont they know customer service goes a long way in a service business?!?!

Current News & Events / Comcast
« on: September 14, 2010, 02:36:01 PM »
I had two polite gentlemen from Comcast come to my door the other day offering service to our area...I live off of Chaffee Rd.  I was surprised to hear they offered service down where I was...they said that people of Fairfax should call Comcast and check to see if their area was ready to be hooked up. They admitted they havent done a good job notifying our area of the services.  So it wouldnt hurt to check with Comcast and see if they are or will be around anytime soon.   Just thought I would throw it out there.
