It used to be said by administration that a delay wasn't in best interest of the parents/kids either. Parents still had to go to work, many at usual time & kids were left on own awhile.... so it was tough on parents. It doesn't matter either way to me, all I can say is it was VERY cold out there this am!! Car didn't start, handle for hood latch snapped because of the cold, door tensions not working for house door so many slams in & out, & the farrier who has NEVER canceled, canceled for the first time..... good choice I thought!! Stay warm & just think, before you know it, it will be so hot you won't be able to stand it!

Mirjo, not so sure it is not that we don't want to push for answers & accountability, but, in my perspective, it gets very hard to battle against the power when SI has already seemingly wanted to disperse of our bus system. I have asked questions & can say, again, my opinion, I find it very rude when I do, that the SI turns head away & one meeting even said he is being accused of this & it isn't him.... not so many words, but that was the jist. So, I will be there tonight waiting for answers/outcome, but again, gets frustrating to attend only to feel like you really aren't wanted there by some. I can't tell you the # of times members are asked to speak up as we cannot hear them... doesn't make for a warm welcome. Just my take on this!

Roads about town are getting slippery; Main hill is becoming a challenge for some. Drive safe if you need to be out.

WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER & ATTEND THIS MEETING!!! It maybe easier to write 1 check to a contracted service that will give us a good deal the 1st year or 2 BUT then what will happen??? Remember, also considered is the "EFFICIENT" part of this; a neighboring contracted service that other schools may use are part of BIG operations; is that what we really want?? It will be something we no longer have any control over. PLUS, we just bought a NEW bus yet our SU office stated our entire fleet is worth only about 90k?? ATTEND this meeting PLEASE!!!!

For any of you wondering who wrote a blog pondering about the weather & decisions about the closings of school on snow days, you can read his work either on face book or by going to FWSU-BLOG.ORG Anatomy of a snow day A superintendent's perspective. It was nicely done; maybe he missed his calling.

I have no idea how to replace him but I wish it could & would happen. Arrogance beyond words with this person; over my years dealing with him the rudeness he portrays to some is beyond words. I also do not agree that we aren't interested, I feel we are getting beat down & always hitting brick walls going up against him for issues such as the buses. He wanted them gone long ago (gets very defensive when it's discussed as he says we blame him...DUH!! he is the super)& in the past we fought & won then; now with state regulations, he seems to have that on his side, though we could keep as now IF proven to be more cost & effective.... whatever that means according to the man whom spoke in riddle from the state dept. of ed. Yes, MANY think it is important, but there is a saying my dad & mom used to say" you can't fight city hall"; well maybe you can IF you have the time, energy & $$$

Yes it is a dangerous place & many accidents have happened there. Not sure but most likely a study or studies have been done there; not too many years back the road was widened there, maybe in hopes to help, BUT, people just need to slow down & use caution. You will get used to it. Just as an FYI, be ready for winter as it's also a slippery place!

Can tell it is an election time for him; hasn't given a dang too much until now so he is trying to get some brownie points.

I think we, the town of Fairfax taxpayers, own our bus system! We have paid for this over the many years & sincerely hope we are allowed to keep them. I spoke with our board chair & she said as of now, 2 companies have been asked to bid the busing for the SU. She also said IF we can show it is both more cost effective & more efficient, the SU can chose to keep our buses just as they are! Now, when I asked that question to the state ed rep that came to the school board meeting, he really "danced around" with his reply! We also spoke of the bus garage & I was told that NO way will our garage be rented out IF we contract busing, that our custodial supervisor has said we will fill that garage with our own school equipment & vehicles. She noted the contracted busing for Georgia parks those buses @ the school & the Fletcher drivers take their buses home with them. I think we need to be clear the buses, if contracted out, be parked @ the facility that owns them; let their insurance cover cost of damage rather than have them on school property where we would be responsible. Besides, if we don not own our buses in the future, let them run them someplace else for a half hour to get them going/warm up rather than our neighborhood; 1st student has a huge facility just a little over 2 miles from our garage. So, with that said, the next SU board meeting is Nov.19th, 6:30, @ the SU office; guess we have work to do before!!!
