I sincerely hope anyone that attends goes in with an open mind, letting Casella's & the board speak, & trusting that our board will do what they feel is best for our town, which is why we have elected them.

General Discussion / Re: Triplex

I hear you Lena...... some seem to get away with things.... no matter how much dislike is expressed.  We can probably thank the state for always changing water/sewer capacities, they really seem to be at the root of so many issues including but not limited to  childcare, school requirements, school mergers & trash.  Not sure how it is these rules can be made with NO idea how/why/IF they will work.  Hopefully the state would help with this issue of a triplex right there, such a dangerous place to get in/out of!  Or maybe "friend" has an "in" there also.

So that would mean landlords were charged per apartment?  that would seem to be the fairer way.. Thanks again for your info!!

Thanks for the info Mary Kay as some are under the impression that joining the district would cost under 10k per year!!  I hope your information is read by many.  I also thank the select board for all they have tried to do!!!

I did NOT have a problem with the postcard any more than the flyers received from our current hauler, whom had backed out of the town contract, or the 3rd flyer from a hauler that did not want in with the select board's request.  I just hope all know that less than $40.00 per month as they stated, can still be more the what the board got in a worse case scenario from Casella's @ $32. per month, which hopefully will be even lower.  I still wish there was a way that landlords would be responsible for each apartment as a separate unit: if they have 3 apartments then they should pay the fee 3xs as they have 3xs the trash!  That could be figured out I would think by the lister's office as they know the properties.  That also would reduce the rate...I do not feel going by property value is fair to many whom may just have a really nice home with only 2 people living there.  Just a thought that others have shared.

THANK YOU MK for putting this up!! I truly hope everyone READS it before tomorrow's vote! I also thank the select board for their work to help our town through this process.  I really wish Casella's would have sharpened their pencils before election as I know the select board has tried their best to get the price down, but I also heard from many to get a quote for something like this is not an easy process.

I agree! Curbside is hopefully the way we continue to go; YES for one tax bill for landlords to cover ALL of their apartments ( pay for 5 not for 1)

We went last night & all 4 of us were very happy with our meals! 2 kinds of a burger type meal, an open faced philly steak meal & haddock meal... all very good & certainly will go back again.  It was busy, yet good service.  The only con that I have heard from many & the way they do your bill right at the register. Both waitresses noted that & explained we could go over it there, but it is a very different way to do that. At one time there were 4 different parties waiting in line for that; not a criticism, just a comment & maybe a bit more of a challenge to figure how to split the bill; they must have a reason for this.  But again, food was good & prices seem fair! Wish them all the best!!

I have attended school board meetings & 1 reason I do not go is we can NOT hear what the board is saying, & YES that has been brought to their attention many times! It makes 1 feel as if not wanted if you can't hear what is being said & a bit uncomfortable to always ask them to speak up.
I also disagree with the SU was the biggest proponet of keeping the buses;  he HAD to file a waiver to be in accordance with the ridiculous rules the state is mandating to school & after petitions, towns people also showing support, he finally saw it possibly as a way to get the budget passed PLUS, our BUS super proved it is more cost effective to keep our own buses. NOT always is change for the better & we do NOT have to be the 1st in the state to do something coming down for new rules... let someone else take the fall & we can learn from mistakes. That comment I heard @ a board meeting before: that we would be the 1st school to do something.
Glad NO decisions have been made & that information is being gathered; HOPEFULLY both sides are well represented rather than putting more pros to the side 1 wishes for.
Rarely does adding the income of a "middle man" to do the job continue to be cost effective; maybe in the beginning, but just wait for it to change.
