On Saturday, December 20th, 2008,
a seventh name is expected to be added
to the list of Bellows Free Academy Fairfax 1,000 career point scorers.

Seth Rebeor currently has 986 career points.

The BFA Fairfax Bullets will host the Winooski Spartans Saturday.
The Bullets are ranked # 3 in Vermont in the D-III Coaches Poll and have won five straight.

BFA Fairfax 1,000 Point Club
Varsity Basketball
Year - Player - Points
1985 Cheryl Gates 1,306pts
2004 John Paul Marriott 1,226
1959 Richard Stewart 1,202
2001 Steve Gomez 1,112
1981 Dianna Gates 1,068
1994 Robert Sheltra 1,053

2008 Seth Rebeor 986

Seth Rebeor is a fine young man who probably could have already scored 1,000, but often he generously finds the open man.
He is a true team player and will be a great success in the future as well.

But, Seth, Saturday is for you !
The rest of the Bullets will take the "Win" out of Winooski and let you have your moment.
The Chamber will be rocking.

JV tips at 1:00pm and the varsity will follow at 2:30pm.
I encourage all sports fans and all Fairfax residents to come to BFA
on Saturday and watch a moment in Fairfax history.

Congratulations, Seth !

I Googled Seth's name and came up with the following photos on the Internet:

Chris,

I believe your esteemed local resident -- your neighbor down the street,  scored over 1000 points as well,  Mr.  David Keefe.  In addition,  It is also my understanding David still holds the single game scoring record -- 50 points -- in a single game -- at Richford.

I'm sure there are folks out there that can confirm my points.

Thanks, Mike, I have heard of David's great games, including the 50 point performance.
He's remembered as one of the finest.
I will research his career totals.

David did not reach 1,000 but we believe his 50 point game is the record.
He remembers Dick Stewart (1959 1,202 points) as a great referee from the early 70's.

Would BFA Fairfax alumni be interested in selecting a "Dream Team" ?

David ( '73 ) did score 50 against Richford and those of us who watched that game wondered why he didn't score that many every time out. The answer, of course, was that throughout his career, David looked to pass first when he got the ball, as opposed to looking for his shot, and if BFA had kept assist records, he certainly would have been at the top of that list.  Remember also, both David and Dick Stewart did not have the advantage of practicing on a big floor before playing their games away from home, and further, David played ( not practiced ) in his team's home games held on the Milton Court ( the old gym having been ruled as unplayable by the VHA ).
My thought is that all of these scorers, Diane and Cheryl included , deserved this honor because first, it is never easy to have the many excellent shooting nights whereby someone can score the many necessary baskets to reach this mark, but second, every one of these players was a target of the opposing team during every game of their most productive years and they succeeded in spite of this passionate opposition. As a side note, I wonder how many baskets Dick Stewart scored in his senior year without players draped on his shooting arm ???
Congrats to Seth and his teammates !!!

Bullets won 57-27.
Seth Rebeor hit # 1,000 from the line
with just over 3 minutes left in the game.

He finished with 19 and stands at 1,005.

Fox 44 covered the event.

Congratulations, Seth.
