Just got word IBM is letting people go at this time!! So much for the news having one of the "big cheeses" last week say they were not laying off, nothing to be worried about. Guess it wasn't his position being axed. Don't you just love people not telling the truth??!!

The Center for Technology, Essex, held the school's Recognition Night last night at the Robert E. Miller Building at the Essex fairgrounds. It was a largely attended ceremony that recognized all the students for their hard work & dedication in their technical fields of study. The two student speakers were students from BFA Fairfax, Sarah Zelley & Connor Laroche; both did a wonderful job of speaking. There were many other Fairfax students who also attend CTE, all should be proud of their accomplishments. Congrats to all & You made Fairfax shine!!!

On Saturday, May 18th, from 9am to 1pm, B.F.A. Fairfax is having a bottle drive to raise more funds for our Project Grad night for our 2013 senior graduating class. Please save your bottles to help us fund this drug/alcohol free time for this wonderful group of kids as their last high school event! If you'd like us to pick up bottles but this date isn't convenient, or if you have a lot of bottles, please give us a call & we will be happy to arrange a time. Call Karen F. @ 524-7692 or Karen H. @849-6604, or you can leave your bottles @ Minor's Country Store & tell them they are for Project Grad. We thank our community & everyone for those who have already donated either through bottles, our cannisters around local businesses or other generous donations we already have received. This is a fun event for these kids we couldn't do it without the support of many!!

Wondered if anyone else has had younger kids, maybe college age, come knocking on your door selling "products" & hand you a basket of sweets as soon as you answer? This is twice this week & both times I have said no thanks; the 1st young man did not want to take no for an answer & told me he gets paid just for showing their products so he would come back later. I told him no thanks again & not to bother coming back as I am not interested. 2nd young man just knocks on the door, rather abruptly & so I said I told another I wasn't interested the other day & he snaps "well you don't have to buy anything".....NO thanks & don't come back I say. Both pretty rude if learning to be salesmen! Wondered if anyone else had them? Driving a silver van.

Since only 2.8% of the registered voters were at Town Mtg on Saturday, I wanted to reach more voters here & let them know the Selectboard clarified the information given in the St. Albans Messenger Wknd edition in regards to our town clerk's race. Each Selectboard member was asked & stated he did not push the current assistant clerk to run for the position of Town Clerk/ Treasurer.

I know this topic has come up before, but after today, it needs to be brought up again.........how lucky we are to have our Fairfax Rescue crews. My son competes in the open horse show @ Northwestern Riding & Driving Club on rt.104 in No. Fairfax, across from Adam's Quick stop & today one of his friend's, our friend that rides @ the barn we board our horse, was hurt in an accident during competition. Her horse tripped in a small hole as he was galloping, causing him to fall, sending her face first hard to the ground & he continued to flip over on top of her. This could have ended very differently but I am relieved to say she will be OK, partly because of the great care she received from our crew. Trevor, you got there so fast after I placed the call; it took me longer to explain where the event is held to the 911 conact than it took you to arrive & the ambulance was close behind. Once on the scene, I saw professionalism in each member. Not only did the crew attend to our rider's physical needs, but also to her emotional needs as this was a very scary time. As I rode in the ambulance with her, I witnessed the members really showing every ounce of encouragement with our rider to get her to feel at ease as much as possible. Crew members, driver included, you were all fantastic & I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of our rider.

Our rain gage @ the Bellows Farm measured TWO & three tenths of an inch last night! so much for my homemade meat-birds chicken kennel. Got some repairs to do.
