Now this is one very good example of the importance of a Union.

Although, IBM has been success in laying off worker and then posting HUGE signs at their entrance HIRING NOW!  Channel 3 news is always a great sucker for giving IBM good public relations.  Leaving one who has been displaced after 20-some years of service  left to wonder is this right?

This is IBM Country here in Vermont.  Once upon a time IBM worked with the employee to help "bridge" them over into retirement.  That is not the case anymore, things have changed.

Sounds like St. Albans is just exercising what IBM has been practicing for years nows and getting away with it because there is no UNION.  It is about time someone stands up to the big business.  It doesn't seem like the law makers are ever there when you need them at a time like this - remember in November!  Bernie should be all over this and IBM but he is not:(

You guys are lucky to have a Union because you would be on your own - otherwise.

Good point slpott ...

why don't folks say anything about those collecting Welfare at 100% and working under the table?  Or collecting Welfare and shacked up with a partner who is working? why don't anyone talk about those able bodies who choose not to pay into this system?

I recall the number being low, like under 20-disabled Veterans here in the Town of Fairfax.  Not a big number at all to worry much about!

I have seen the Sheriff on Shepardson Hollow Road as well as the VST but keep in mind there has been "hot-spots" on that road in the past.  However, to seen the Sheriff twice in one day on that road I would agree this site may have caught someone's Attention or the fact of Re-election is up for grabs!  On another note ... about this re-election .... Does anyone run against Sheriff Norris?  It doesn't seem like there is any competion here!  As the saying goes, nothing like good clean competion to IMPROVE the quality!

This really isn't the area to make a cut and I am ALL for cutting the Taxes.  There are so many other areas to find savings to reduce our taxing without this minor number.  It would be like eliminating several positions that pay $10/hour which would impact 20-30 employees when you could eliminate a position that paided $50,000.00 and just 2-individual's impacted.

Margie,

You are correct - it is illegal to ride four wheelers on the road.  However, I don't believe anyone is complaining of that part as much as the speed and the noise of their ride.  Do they really have to go so fast that they put the driver of the on coming car in danger or the individual walking or running on the side of the road?  The noise is just so unnecessary.  Calling the Sheriff does not yeild the same result as the "30mph" speed zone on Fletcher Road which IS enforced consistantlty!  We are just asking for a "liittle" bit of Sheriff enforcement like a conversation with the four wheelers riders and or their parents would be a great start.   I betya the Sheriff would know who is a four wheeler rider.

Thought I heard someone say it was just a few dollars - not to worry - on top of the other few dollars and a few more dollars before that and a few more dollars on top of that and a few dollars before that!  Oh well, just a few more dollars won't make a big difference.

Molly,

You are not alone on this topic but it seems like you will have to figure out another way to get the baby to sleep with the four wheels chasing each other down Shepardson Hollow Road.  I had to purchase an Air Cleaner just to block out the noise while my child was young and they use to wake the baby.  In addition, our neighbor is retired and uses loud power saws in his garage all day long  or chain saw which also woke the baby!

I only wished the Sheriff would enforce the four wheelers like the he does the speeds on Fletcher Road in the "30 mph" zone.  If you could get the Sheriff to monitor the four wheeler like that, you would stand a Chance of living in Peace!  Otherwise you may want to invest in the Air Cleaners which worked well for us.  I am still using it when the lawn mowers, chain saws and work shop saws go all day long!

Good Luck

This is usually a sign that someone is in need of money for drugs.    Although you never hear "who" they caught but they do usually catch them because they need the cash and make a mistake in doing so.   We need to keep our eye's open.  Of course I love the Dog idea!  It is another set of ears with a great noise:)

This is always sad to hear of such behavior.

Just came home on 128.  Thought I would enjoy the ride on a new surface but I discovered they have redone the best part of 128!  The smoothest part of 128 has been redone!  Are they planning to do the part that needs it?  The part by the old trailer court is really in need of MAJOR attention.  Oh well, that is just my opinion.

Sumer is the worst time to hold a meeting and especially at the end of the school year, sports and vacations.  Guess the meetings were not well attended.

Best kept secret in Fairfax!

I did not know about this revision, Thank You for bring this to the publics attention.
Just now wondering - would these changes have anything to do with "individuals" whom have vested interest in "relaxing" these current Zoning Regulations?

Makes one wonder ...  connect them dots!  Who is on the Zoning Board and what's there business?
