Current News & Events / Re: Could This Be The Old Sheldon Pulp Mill??
« on: August 17, 2009, 08:15:17 AM »
Hey Henry that was actually my uncle that fell in years ago.  I actually worked there for about 5 years in the late 90's when Boise Cascade owned it. the money was fantastic for a 24 yr old,  but the job was not so fantastic, RockTenn   bought it. and let a lot of people go and kept those they did by seniority, probably the best thing that ever happened to me as it made me realize that is deffinatly not what i wanted to do for the rest of my life.. I realized after working there that there is a lot more to a job than the money you make. I still have 2 brothers who work there both of them for well over 30 yrs so it has treated them well. and it has been a very steady company for years. a lot of people have made very good lives because of the mill, and hopefully this fired did not do too much damage. I would be a great loss to the Northeast.

As someone in the construction business (roofing Company), you would be amazed at the amount of work we receive because our workplace is cleaned up everyday, and our trucks are clean. We had a business owner follow one of our trucks for about 15 city blocks, because our guys keep  their trucks clean, said that was the kind of company he wanted to work with, never even got another bid.

some of my earliest memories are of visiting Stuarts sugar house, walking in the woods and collecting sap, he did live a good life, and was an amazing man

Those were great days Mike, some of my greatest memories are listining to the Expo game out on the front lawn with my dad, late summer nights battling the hated Phillies, or Pirates, good times in a much simpler world

seriously I get enough negativity in everyday life, i come to Henry's site for a break and to hear good stories, from home, good luck to all of the new ownership, and for the 99.9% of the people who seem to like the place enjoy. .001%  guy just don't go!!

Uncle Mike's Thoughts Of The Day / Re: Mike's on the Wii!
« on: February 26, 2009, 09:35:27 AM »
yup there is a spot around on the back, will make your life alot easier. I of course am addicted to the wii, My little guy is 47 chapters throught the LEGO star wars set, and i am on week 4 of the NCAA football season playing as the Oregon Ducks. great fun, but I can't lift my right arm some days. p.s. beware the Tiger Woods golf game. the family went out of town for the weekend, and I rented it, the next thing I knew it was 3:45 in the morning, and i had played 216 holes of golf. veeeery bad idea.
