Duane F. Preston

Fairfax - Duane Francis Preston, 81, a life long resident of Fairfax passed away at his home on Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was born in St. Albans on January 19, 1932 son of the late Clarence and Helena (Bellows) Preston. He was a graduate of BFA- Fairfax Class of 1950. Duane proudly served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy. He married the former Elaine Adams on June 15, 1956 in Georgia, VT. He was a hard working and dedicated employee with Velan Valve for 19 years retiring in 1997. Duane loved spending his time outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing, golfing, crafting with wood and of course…the Red Sox! He enjoyed all of the seasons Vermont has to offer but looked forward to hunting season in the fall more than anything hence the name he gave the camp he owned; “Hunters Haven”. Duane was devoted to his family, he was a loving man with a big heart who touched many lives and he will be deeply missed by all of us.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Elaine Preston; his son Bryan Preston and significant other Ann; his daughter Sara Carter and husband Tim; six grandchildren: Chris, Shannon, Lindsey, Eric, Stephanie and Joanna; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main St., Fairfax, VT 05454 on Friday July 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating.
