General Discussion / Found Cat
« on: May 18, 2012, 11:17:38 PM »
Hello all

We found a black cat with white paws and no collar on the side of 104a tonight, near the intersection of skunk hill road.... Was scared, cold, and hungry... Now it's purring, warm, and full... Will post flyers up at steeple, minors, nans, and maplefields tomorrow and hand deliver some to addresses near that intersection... Otherwise, let us know if you or someone you know is missing a cat!

Thanks

Millions of people suffer from various forms of digestive disorders. One disorder in particular is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. A family member has this condition, and has suffered for years with it. The usual treatment is life- long antibiotic therapy. People with diabetes and/or pancreatitis have a higher risk for this.

I have done quite a bit of research on this. As a health care professional, I have much research throughout my career. My purpose in writing this now, is to inform you that there has been a major breakthrough in treating digestive disorders. Now there is a major yuk factor to this, but the research shows an 85%-95% cure rate or long term remission. It is called a Fecal Transplant. They have been performed in hospitals in this country and overseas. There is much information about this in medical journals and on the web.  You can do this procedure at home.
But I would not attempt without clearance from the doctor.

The end result in my family member's case is.....it worked. Within hours he was better....he is "normal"... No more pain, no more 7-10 trips to the water closet every day.....

Digestive disorders are debilitating, can cause pain, depression, loss of sleep, and loss of hope. I want people to know that there are various digestive disorders that have a high cure rate with a fecal transplant. I am happy to send information via e-mail. Read it and then you can have an informed discussion with your doctor.

God Bless,
Nancyd

General Discussion / Vehicle drove up driveway
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:20:51 PM »
Ok...today a green pick-up truck drove up my private driveway......you can't see our house from the road........my son was out in the yard. They said they were looking for the Warren family. Anyway, they didn't say what they wanted until my son approached their truck.
Being careful, I called the police after they left.....the officer said they were looking for the address. The officer did check the license plate and said they aren't from around here.

Just being cautious, ...........any Warren family off 104?

General Discussion / Metal detecting
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:14:35 PM »
Are there any people in Fairfax who go metal detecting? I have gone a few times, but need further practice/instruction.  I did find a 1901 coin at Sand Bar State Park, and a watch....my son hid his watch in the sand when I wasn't looking....I was excited with my "find"! It was only later he told me it was his...HaHa. A looking to go out this season.....

Join me at the State House to oppose Physician Assisted Suicide in Vermont
« on: Today at 09:53:50 AM »

Dear Friends,
I was shocked and appalled to see that Vermont Legislators are actually putting forth proposed legislature to allow Physician Assisted Suicide here in Vermont. There are no words to describe my disgust and anger at such an abominable action.

I am a registered nurse who has spent nearly my entire nursing career on caring for the terminally Ill. I am the author of a book entitled Mind, Body, and Soul; A Guide to Living with Cancer. I have cared for Over 400 terminally Ill people. I can tell you with certainty,
If a person wants to end their life due to suffering a progressive life-threatening condition, it is because we have failed as medical professionals, spiritual and social counselors, and family members. Human nature is universally endowed with an inherent need for survival. It is only when suffering becomes too difficult to bear, that thoughts of suicide become the only viable option of escape.

We must not allow OUR FAILURES  due to incompetence, neglect, apathy, and fear, to be the deciding factors of whether or not this State will allow assisted suicide. LIFE IS SACRED.

Instead, we must fight to preserve their inherent will to live. We must take responsibility for ensuring that every person has adequate pain management, spiritual and social support to preserve their dignity.

Join me at the State House in Montpelier on Wednesday, at 9am to OPPOSE Physician Assisted Suicide in Vermont.

From True Dignity Vermont:

The moment we’ve dreaded but for which we’ve been preparing has now arrived.  This afternoon we received the news from Vermont Alliance for Ethical Health Care that the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on S. 103, the bill to legalize assisted suicide (PAS) in Vermont.

We have since spoken with Senator Richard Sears, the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who confirmed that on March 14 the committee will hear three hours of testimony on the bill. One hour will allotted to testimony from each of the following three groups: medical professionals, the disability rights community, and proponents of the bill. We do not know whether there will be proponents among the medical professionals and disability rights groups. We do know that no hour has been set aside for ordinary citizens who oppose this bill.

Senator Sears told us that he is leaning towards allowing the bill to come to a vote in the Senate , where he believes it will fail. He admitted that he is holding these hearings, which he recently told Burlington TV station WCAX he had no intention of doing, because he has been under a lot of pressure. It is easy to surmise that this pressure has come from the governor and Senate leadership as well as the extremely well-funded PAS lobby. Imagine the pressure that would be exerted on every Senator if this were to come to a floor vote. We do not want this to happen.

Here is how we can stop this:

 • Please go to http://www.leg.state.vt.us/lms/legdir/alpha.asp?Body=S&Session=2012 to find your Senators’ phone numbers and email addresses. Call or email them as soon as possible, letting them know you oppose Senate 103 and that you oppose bringing it to a floor vote. If you are a medical professional, don’t forget to include that impressive RN or MD at the end of your name. Please let us know what kind of response you get from your senators by emailing us at admin@truedignityvt.org.

• Please join us in the statehouse on Wednesday, March 14, between 9 AM and noon, to lend support to the opponents of PAS who will be testifying. You will not have to testify yourself. Your presence alone will make a statement. Just ask where the Senate Judiciary hearings are being held, then look for people wearing yellow stickers expressing opposition to assisted suicide. We will be posting directions to the state house soon.

• Join Vermont Alliance for Ethical Healthcare now at www.vaeh.org.  Make a contribution if you can possibly afford to. It will be used to defeat this dangerous bill.

General Discussion / Seniors, Seniors...We have so much to offer
« on: March 09, 2012, 01:26:23 PM »
I was thinking about the goldmine of information seniors have to offer!  There are so many people here who I am sure can teach or inspire other seniors here in town. Talented people, artistic people, good cooks, good photographers, good story tellers or people who just like to tell stories. I would love a way to bring these people together to share their talents and hobbies.....

Must we wait for a meeting place to be built? Or can we start by Finding a place to meet, chat, socialize, learn?
I know you good folks are out threre.....come out, come out, wherever you are.

I'm thinking of seniors as 50+ years....

General Discussion / GOV Shumlin Skips Screening at BVT
« on: February 24, 2012, 11:28:05 AM »
A few months back, I was on a scheduled flight from Burlington airport to NY. I saw Gov Shumlin and a few of his companions bypass the screening line and walked through a side entrance. When I walked to the waiting area at the gate, he was sitting in the waiting room with everyone else. That made me angry.....No one is above the law, not even a Governor. in this age of "high security", the greatest dangers are those unforeseen opportunities .......was his briefcase and luggage within his sight at all times? You get my drift. Elected officials should not be exempt from the security laws that we, the people must abide by.

it is not a safe practice and definitely puts people at risk for the unthinkable yet very possible disaster. Voice your opinion and object to this abuse of power.

General Discussion / Fairfax Rescue...Thank You!
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:48:48 PM »
hi All,
I want to publicly thank our Fairfax Rescue for coming to our aid at 1:00am....Yes, they were in the comfort of their homes, and got up, dressed, and came to us for what I thought was a medical emergency. They examined my husband and put me at ease. they would have transported him to the hospital if we wanted. It was clear it was up to us. Even as a nurse, sometimes it's hard to make the call. But he was alert and able to converse.....we decided to stay home and monitor. Diabetic situations can be tricky and down right scary .
the rescue team didn't get much sleep last night. Thank you for coming to our need!

Thank You!!!!
