Exordium Art Camp: Adventures in Art at the Library

Led by Lisa Brestler
Dates: July 22-26, daily 10 am– 2 pm

Art camp is a time to let your creativity run wild while enjoying the freedom of nature. In this week long camp, students will experience creative play through art and nature. Students will use their surroundings to be inspired. We will spend the morning learning about a new art form. After a short snack students will engage in their own art using inspirations from the morning lesson. At the end of the week students will have finished work to take with them, as well as new tools to use in their future artistic endeavors.

Instructor: Lisa Brestler
Lisa has been teaching art for seven years both in public schools and summer art camps. Her passion for art comes from her inspiration to be playful and to create. She enjoys nature and the beauty it has to offer and finds it inspiring to work from. Her biggest passion in art is working with students. She enjoys helping students foster their ideas into masterpieces. Lisa's primary focus in art education is to create life-long art lovers.

Exordium Nature Camp: Exploration of the Fairfax outdoors through hands-on activities

Led by Kurt Valenta, aka Mr. K
Dates: August 5-9, daily 10 am– 2 pm

This week-long camp is an exploration and celebration of the natural environment and the plants and animals within. Hands-on activities, exploration walks and games included. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in the fun with their children.

Instructor: Kurt Valenta
Kurt Valenta graduated as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist from Ryerson Poly-technical Institute, Toronto, Ontario and completed his Master in Education at Union Institute & University this past January. After a career in engineering at various companies around the world, he also taught French to K-8 classes at Pathways Academy, a private elementary school in St. Albans Bay, VT. Kurt currently is a volunteer classroom instructor at the Four Winds Nature Institute, a nature program at Sheldon Elementary School. He is the founder and president of Exordium Inc., a nature and outdoor education company providing outdoor learning experiences for the young and young-at-heart. He now makes his home with his wife and three daughters in Northern Vermont.
