Little bon fires used to be the thing for cabbage night.  The rain should prevent that tonight, although our Fire Department is usually on hand at the fire station, just in case.

DATE/TIME: This incident occurred between approximately 2000 hours on  October 30, 2009 and 0600 hours on October 31, 2009.
LOCATION
(specific): The Town of Leicester and Whiting
VIOLATION: Unlawful Mischief
 
SUMMARY
OF INCIDENT: On the morning of Sunday October 31, 2009 Vermont State Police
New Haven took five reports of vehicular vandalism specifically in the Leicester and Whiting areas. Multiple cars had their rear and side windows broken out with rocks ranging in size from four inches to half the size of a football as reported by victims. Those involved in the incident also threw rocks at a quarter panel on one vehicle creating a large hole and the passenger door of another vehicle. Damages are estimated to be greater than $4,000 dollars. Anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Trooper Andrew Leise at The New Haven State Police Barracks at 1-802-388-4919.

INCIDENT: Felony Vandalisms
CASE #: Numerous
DATE/TIME: 10/30/09 to 11/4/09
LOCATION (specific): Brandon, Leicester, Salisbury and Whiting
VIOLATION: Unlawful Mischief (Felony)

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
The Vermont State Police and Brandon PD responded to 30 plus related vandalisms in northern Rutland and southern Addison Counties during the 2009 Halloween weekend.  The incidents involved the perpetrators throwing large rocks at homes and cars from a moving vehicle, during the late night hours of 10/30/09 (Cabbage Night) through 11/4/09.  The damage ranged from smashed car windows and severely dented body panels to home siding being damaged as a result of the rocks being thrown.  An estimated $15,000 in total damages occurred amongst all of the reported incidents.  A list of suspects were developed and resulted in the confessions and arrests of several area juveniles. 

The incidents are still being investigated and there are more possible arrests forthcoming.  Anyone that has information is asked to contact either the Vermont State Police in New Haven or Brandon PD.
