Sorry guys....I was away....before I left I tired to lift one out of the shed, and I couldn't..I got a pellet Delivery and asked the company to take the 13 pallets I had. But J&L hardware has some in the back, and I think they let people take them.

Wow, I wish I had my camera ready...what a sight! At 12:30 I saw beautiful red and yellow canoes coming down the river today in the rain! It looked like maybe a club. Most canoes had two people in each one. So exciting to see! Anyone know what that was about? Fun stuff. I wanted to jump down and join them....

THIS IS A Routine Press Release
February 5, 2014 8:00 a.m.
WATERBURY, VT – Money is once again available for Vermont communities for the purpose of mitigating the effects of future disasters on public infrastructure and home private property.
The Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) is now accepting a new round of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) applications from towns and agencies in all Vermont counties.
HMGP grants cover up to 75% of the costs associated with lessening the potential damage from a future disaster. Projects like flood-proofing of public buildings, culvert replacement, riverbank stabilization and many others have been completed in the past under the HMGP with local jurisdictions paying for 25% of the work.
Flood-proofing public buildings, replacing culverts, home or property buy-outs, structural elevations or relocations, among others are eligible for funding under the HMGP.
Applicants may download the HMGP application from our agency’s website at http://vem.vermont.gov/mitigation. DEMHS staff will assist in the application process; towns can contact Ray Doherty, at 802 241-5258 or ray.doherty@state.vt.us , or Misha Bailey at 802 241-5362 or misha.bailey@state.vt.us for assistance.
Deadline for applications is May 2, 2014. Communities are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Hi, I have a question. I don't know how you all fared with downed trees and debri from the ice storm, but I have a lot of debri from partial and fully downed trees. Is it the Home owner's responsibility to foot the cost of clean-up? I think I read that FEMA gave money to towns in VT money for that, but it may be for clean-up of public access roads and utilities.

Yes Ed, I do I take my Mule (not the live kind ) to Exit 18 place....actually they come and pick it up. It would be good if you have the manual to give them..if they say no for some reason, I'll find you a place.

Thanks guys. The case with the worker at Home Depot really riled my feathers because the contractor would shop there and taunt the worker about his getting away with taking his money....I really really didn't want him to get away with it.
Anytime you use a contractor, always save any communication that transpires over email or texts, and if it's verbal, write it down. You never know when you'll need it.
Sorry Ed, don't know how to get money back from Govt...haha...they bury it deep.

Long story short......My son put me in touch with an older man who works at Home Depot, saying I could help him as he was scammed by a contractor. I found the contractor on the State's Home Improvement Fraud list. Anyway, this contractor took $25,000 of this man's money and did not perform the work. That was two years ago. I texted the. HD worker and told him exactly what he had to do...how to file a police report, what to say, how to document everything.....police went to contractor's home and served court papers. Well the contractor paid the man back in FULL with a bank check ( I told him not to accept any other payment option. )
Update on my case....we are getting our money back too...went to court today. Our guy pleaded guilty to felony fraud....Jail 2-5 years if he messes up in Court Drug Treatment Program. Case Over.
