MKR, we should start a Fairfax Neighborhood Watch section... Or even a Group on Facebook.  Gathering intel is the single most important step to helping police make arrests and stopping this type of crime.

Sad, I really love that place.... It is a good place to stop and get lunch and have a good convo with local folks.

Still looking for Veteran or current Military members to walk and lead the parade!! So far we have an old military Jeep with veterans and 2 motorcycles with Combat Vet members ... It would be nice to get a few more people to walk.

True Heroes all of them!!  There is a reason they are called America's greatest generation.  Us Veterans of today can not hold a candle to what these mean have done and gone through, they truly are amazing.  I often turn to the thought of them and what they have done in my self pity moments and it sure does put things in perspective.  I hope that they enjoyed their trip and each others company.

Thank you Angela and the rest of VSP for taking time to give these men a proper escort.

How is this possibly the only message that was sent? What about the message that the community wanted to be petty and vindictive against educators? What about the message that we simply need to be fiscally responsible, period.  Its not always about salaries, unions etc. Sometimes the increase in cost is simply about good quality education. The message we send should be about supporting just that, good, high quality education without the divisiveness.

Petty and vindictive against educators because we can't afford never ending tax increases to support a bloated budget that wasn't properly reviewed? The final budget that passed cut out thousands of dollars, with a large portion of that from programs that were funded but not used. What hidden account was all of this money hiding in that it wasn't found in the first two budget proposals? The lackadaisical way in which the first and second budgets were reviewed and proposed were a slap in the face to the hard working people of this community. But you're right, we just wanted to be petty and vindictive against educators.

I think this year's school budget showed that we need to spend a little extra money to bring in an independent auditor to review the school's budget. I have a feeling that it would find a lot more unnecessary and unused money hiding in the budget.

I AGREE!!!! I do not believe anyone was vindictive towards educators either.  I think most people agree that GOOD teachers deserve to make a good wage, but most people also agree that lazy teachers shouldn't be rewarded with a raise every year. Especially when most of the people paying for those increases, have been on pay freezes for the last 4 or so years do to our economic situation.  People don't take issue with the young, ambitious, hard working teachers that make 35gs a year... They deserve a raise and I would argue NEED a raise.  It is the tenure teacher that makes 75gs a year, puts in minimal effort, but is guaranteed a raise every year that most people have issues with.  For a tenure teacher, that wage and 10 weeks of summer vaca is a pretty good deal, they shouldn't have much to complain about.  I know a lot of people that work all year and don't even make 75gs with OT.  Again, I'm not bashing all teachers!!!! My sister is a teacher, but there needs to be some accountability I feel.

Well made flyer to note the changes in the budget. Hope everyone comes out on 5/28 to vote the budget up or down. These were some well thought out cuts this time.

I'm with you Nick!! I hope people that voted no like I did, show up to vote yes.  I feel as though they worked hard to make these cuts and it would be nice for the voters to show them some recognition.

$6B to heat and cool 3B square feet- That's $2/square foot.  I wish my heating bill was that low!

Really Trevor???  I thought that was high!! I mean my house is 1600sqft and it did not cost me $3200 to heat and cool it this year.  Heat was really pricey this year and I only spent around $2000 bucks....

I fail to even understand the purpose of the bill!! It has been voted down twice in the last year and then gets slid through on the 3rd try...

It seems to me that it is a legal form of extortion and nothing more!!

Forcing people to pay you a fee for "Protection" does not sit well with me.  If you are going to be registered with the state and subject to rules and random inspections, you will have no choice but to pay money to the union.  All this bill is going to do is force people to stop registering their daycares because they don't want to pay union dues.  How does forcing people to go "underground" and discontinue registering their daycare help our children?!

I'm lucky to have a great provider that I trust, I know without state inspection I still have nothing to worry about.  I grew up here and have known my provider all my life though, that is not a luxury that most people have.  I would think that any advocate for our children would want safe, registered, and inspected daycares for all children in Vermont.  They would not sponsor a bill that decreases the number of safe, registered and inspected daycares across the state.  Pretty obvious that our elected officials at the state level are not much different then the ones on the national level (in general not Franklin counties officials).  They vote with the thought of money on their minds not the well being of the people who put them there.

Students should also be careful for what they are picking up...  Lot's of reports of dirty needles being found all over Frainklin county.  A friend of mines kid found some on the fletcher side of Wilkins rd doing green up on Friday.
