Rod's not far from the truth.  I've heard the next thing the banks are going to be trying here are what's known as "Chip and PIN", where there's a little metal chip on the credit card, and you have to enter in a secret code just like with debit cards.  I think it's required for credit cards in Canada nowadays.

That's pretty facile, Ed, even for you.

Forget the fact that Netflix, Redbox, and Amazon have rendered another business model obsolete.

Current News & Events / Country Pantry under new management
« on: July 07, 2012, 09:37:18 PM »
I noticed a sign up today that the Country Pantry is having a grand reopening on July 21st under new management and a new menu.

It looks like the business is still for sale, though.  Asking price was $49,000 on a craigslist advertisement post up yesterday.

Current News & Events / 104 Construction?
« on: April 25, 2012, 04:42:09 PM »
Does anyone know the details for what looks to be the quickly approaching Rt 104 construction between 104a and 15?

Specifically, I'm curious about the following: When is it expected to start and complete?  Will the work simply be repaving, or will they fix the underlying road problems?  Will there be detours/closures posted?  Will intersecting streets simply be joined to be new pavement or will there be more significant work further along these intersecting roads?

This was just being discussed on the Westford Front Porch Forum last week.
Here's the posting from Westford/Essex Rep Martha Heath:

"This is the response I got from the Secretary of the Agency of Transportation when I inquired about Route 128 as a result of the posts I was reading on Front Porch Forum:  A paving project for the rest of 128 is scheduled for next year.  Short-term fixes will be applied as soon as the asphalt plants open (April/May).  No Irene connection.  Mostly a matter of money for paving not going as far as it used to due to high oil prices.

You can refer people to kevin.marshia@state.vt.us for a more complete explanation of future plans."

If your adjusted gross income was less than $57,000, you're eligible for free preparation and filing.  You can find a listing of online providers and instructions on the IRS web page.
