Current News & Events / Fairfax Rescue on Halloween
« on: October 31, 2013, 10:54:22 AM »
Fairfax Rescue is having a free Halloween fun house tonight. Come enjoy the decorations, a small snack, some hot cocoa, or a cup of warm cider or chilled apple juice. There will also be a couple activities for the kids to do, or even just stop in for a place to warm back up while you are out trick or treating. Consider dropping in after visiting the 2nd Annual Haunted House at the Baptist building. Hope to see you there!

Is this something that will happen again? Sadly, I'm on call for the hospital for 2 weeks, and can't leave the area.

Scary to come home, and find that a fire occurred of your street. Thank you for everything you do.

One name correction for rescue; Moriah Greenia, as written, is actually Moriah Gibson.

It's National Volunteer Appreciation Week, so I wanted to say thank you to all the volunteers in our community. There are so many organizations and individuals that provide volunteer services around, that I can't name them all, but each of you know who your are. As a volunteer myself, I say thank you to the community, for allowing us the opportunity to serve you, and the support you give to all of us.

Current News & Events / Fire and Rescue Auxiliary meeting
« on: February 27, 2012, 10:06:55 AM »
There will be a meeting this Wednesday, February 29 at 7pm at the fire station for the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Auxiliary. This organization is in it's beginning stages, so it's a great opportunity to be a part of the creation. This Wednesday, Sue Wyckoff, the president of Cambridge's Auxiliary, will be coming to speak with us. The auxiliary is open to anyone who wants to support their community. Spread the word to anyone you think may be interested; we hope to see you there.

If anyone has and questions, concerns, or suggestions. The auxiliary email is: fxfdemsaux@gmail.com.

Thank you,

Kristen Greenia

Current News & Events / Fairfax Fire and Rescue Auxiliary

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate folder for this, but here's hoping!

We are creating a Fairfax Fire and Fairfax Rescue Auxiliary, for those with an interest in volunteering their support for their community, as well as supporting the members of Fairfax Fire and Rescue. We will be meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 pm at the Fairfax Fire Department for the initial meeting. We will begin setting up/ defining the organization, planning recruitment, and setting up a  meeting schedule. If you've wanted to become involved in Fire or Rescue, but may not be able to commit to a regular schedule, this is a perfect opportunity.

Feel free to pass on the word to anyone you think might be interested. We are looking forward to meeting our fellow community members!

Haven't seen the news yet this morning.... anyone know how Occupy Sesame Street is going?

Beep ba-beep beep beep ba-beep beep

And now for another fast breaking news story, we take you to Kermit The Frog..

"Oh, hi, Kermit the Frog here, speaking to you from the lovely City of Burlington, where Oscar the Grouch was just cited into district court for showing his can to Elmo. When asked about the incident, Elmo laughed and said he was tickled by the event.

From the Occupy Sesame Street front, the count reports, 'Bert and Ernie were trampled to death by one, one demonstrator; two, two demonstrators; three, three demonstrators....' We are unable to give you give you exact the details, as the numbers are still being tallied. Grover had planned to attend today's events, but was forced to work overtime at the cafe where an angry customer found yet another fly in his soup. Finally, Prairie Dawn and Big Bird were seen throwing Snuffaluffagus feces at law enforcement, in a deliberate attempt to incite a riot.

In other news, it appears that Cookie Monster has fallen off the wagon. He was seen snorting cookie crumbs in the darkened bathroom of Nectar's by a group of frightened Twiddle Bugs. It is unknown at this time if his contract will be renewed.

This is Kermit the Frog, returning you to your regularly scheduled posting."

With this much wind, that is never good.

I saw an article on this yesterday, I believe. The 17 year old driver was released fairly quickly from Fletcher Allen; her friend, the passenger, was still listed in critical condition at the time the article was written.

Current News & Events / Sketchy salesmen, NY steak and seafood?!?
« on: August 09, 2011, 05:59:02 PM »
I just had a visit from a couple guys in a black, older model pick up truck with 2 chest freezers in the back claiming to be part of the New York Steak and Seafood company which they say is opening a satellite office somewhere nearby. Think I should report them? I can;t imagine a reputable company would send sketchy individuals, no brochure, chest freezers strapped to the back of a pick up truck...

Another Fairfax graduate of the LPN program was Beth Paquin. Beth also graduated with a 4.0, earning her the VTC 4.0 medallion. Congratulations to all the graduates!!

I don't see why there would be any problem with it anyway. As it was pointed out, it's a cost of a few cents per taxpayer, and it's the holidays. I don't see an uproar  when individual companies hold a holiday party, why should this be any different? The town isn't privately owned, so yes, it falls on us. Essentially, we are the employers, and we are rewarding a group of people who work harder than many of us do.

To all town employees: Have fun, and have a safe and wonderful holiday!
