Current News & Events / Re: Fairpoint DSL outage
« on: May 27, 2014, 02:08:16 PM »
The problem appears to be more widespread than just Fairfax.  I have heard of issues down into central VT as well.

Break out the fax machine and daytimer  :)

Current News & Events / Re: RT128 closed = rebuild fail?
« on: April 16, 2014, 08:37:35 AM »
When I went through this morning only one lane was closed.  There was clear evidence the flood had washed over 128 in two places near Pettingill Road.
Traffic also diverted by Essex elementary school.

Regarding the fail, I am more worried about that newly repaved part seemed to be heaving again a few weeks ago.
Hopefully it will not be all cracked up in a few years!

Happy Springtime  :)

Current News & Events / Fairfax House of Pizza ?
« on: March 27, 2014, 08:15:52 AM »
Brenda (my wife) spotted a sign on the old beauty shop (next to the post office) that says Fairfax House of Pizza / Tim's Place - coming soon?
This is a good thing!

Cheers,
Joe

Tried their takeout pizza last night.  It's good.  Taste-wise I'd say it's somewhere between Pie in the Sky and Leonardo's.
We'll get it again.

Now if we can only get delivery........ ;)

Casella took our blue bin on Friday.  I called the town clerk's office this morning and they said Casella was not supposed to take them.
But in our case, they did!

We tried it Friday - for a dirt/gravel road it's OK... much better than it was few weeks ago.
I sure hope they get hustlin' to finish it.

If I may suggest a web page from VPT regarding over the air reception (full disclosure, VPT is my place of employment).

http://vpt.org/broadcast

You should have a pretty decent signal over in the area of the 'Pantry.
Make sure the UHF part of the antenna is pointed toward Mount Mansfield - that's where all of the Burlington stations come from.

Joe Tymecki

Uncle Mike's Thoughts Of The Day / Re: CHOM-FM's Top 97 Albums

Hmmmm, no real debate - a pretty solid list.  I always felt Led Zep was a bit overrated.  Could use a few more Canadian bands, too, maybe?

Current News & Events / State Police in Fairfax this morning?
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:19:22 AM »
This morning (745-ish) there were two state police cars on RT 104 near Swanson's and a third seen on its way with lights/sirens - looked kind of serious.
Anyone know anything?

Thanks,
Joe

Nice shot!  Anyone know what make/model of camera she uses?
(not sure how to get a message directly to her)

Happy Weekend,
Joe

No Smoke on the Water in the top 30?  Bah... CHOM's list has no credibility!
OK, seriously, I did enjoy listening to the countdown.
I always find it amazing when stations do these big countdowns how much of that stuff they don't normally play.

<<edit>> just looked at the list.... "Smoke" is at #37

Joe

I am surprised they hung on this long... the days of getting your media on flat, round things are over, unfortunately.
CD's, DVD's, Blu-ray's will always be around, but not in numbers that can support a store.

... still hanging onto, and playing my vinyl LP's  :)

General Discussion / Plowing Needed
« on: December 29, 2011, 11:23:55 AM »
It looks my plowing person has decided to give up the business (umm...yeah, just finding this out today).

I am looking for recommendations of anyone who could do some residential plowing in the Buck Hollow area.

Thanks,
Happy New Year
