Lost & Found Animals / White dove
« on: July 27, 2016, 08:40:27 AM »
Hi Everyone,

A white dove has been hanging around my yard since Thursday.  My assumption is she was part of a release for a Wedding/funeral or else someone's pet at one point.  She's not afraid of people and I was able to feed her out of my hand a couple of times this morning.  She doesn't have a band on her foot, which I assume she would as part of a release (I think the doves would normally return to their roost for those?).  My husband put up a platform for her and we're using that as a temporary feeding station, but it's only a matter of time before a hawk picks her off.  Has anyone heard of someone missing a dove?  I know it's a long shot, but figured I'd ask...

Thanks,

Susan

Current News & Events / Chukar Partridge

I saw the article on here from 2007 regarding one of two Chukar Partridges that were roaming around Fairfax.  I saw one in my yard today (my husband chased it around, taking pictures).  Just in case anyone in the area is missing one...

Current News & Events / Re: Another Victim Of Lyme Disease
« on: August 13, 2013, 09:07:44 AM »
I suffered for two years with FAHC scratching their heads before I was diagnosed with Lyme and two confections (Babesia and Bartonella). I'm still undergoing treatment which is more difficult since I've had it so long.  With all of the controversy, people should see a Lyme Literate MD....none I would trust in VT.  I see a doctor over in Plattsburgh who has a good rep, has had Lyme herself, and I trust with my life at this point.  I can give her name via a PM if anyone is interested...

If I would have stuck with the doctors I saw here, I would just have to "get plenty of rest and avoid stress" to manage my "chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome."  A the age of 33, I felt like a 90-year-old and they wouldn't do a thing for me.  Truly amazing.

General Discussion / Dune buggy repair?
« on: August 07, 2012, 06:57:52 AM »
We have a couple of dune buggies that are having some engine issues.  They're from manufacturers out-of-state and there's no dealer in Vermont that we know of.  Anyone in the area that works on dune buggies?  We're having some issues with our Hammerhead and Kinroad Sahara.  We've tried some regular mechanics and small engine repair places, and I think one ATV place, but most have no experience with them.  My husband wants to try fiddling with them a little longer, but we may have to just give in and have someone with more experience take a look.  Ideas?

Thanks,

Susan

Current News & Events / Am I just paranoid?
« on: May 04, 2012, 08:21:34 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm new to posting, but have read the forum for a few months now.  The postings that have me the most concerned are the home invasion ones since I work from home.  I live off of 104A on a dirt road, about 9 miles from some of the breakins.

I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid, but I've seen a dark gray pickup with a silver grill acting a little odd on my road.  Yesterday, it drove past my neighbor's house, stopped, backed up, then sat for a little while before driving away.  This morning, I saw it again go all of the way up the road (I'm on a dead-end street) , then stop half-way down the hill (not at the same neighbor's house), then keep going.  I don't know if it was the same truck that I saw last week that stopped in front of my driveway, backed up the road to just in front of my house, then left after sitting for a minute or so.  I never would have noticed the truck if it hadn't backed up.

I know other postings mention a white Jeep Cherokee and a beige sedan if I remember correctly.  I don't know all of my neighbors' cars yet, so it's probably nothing, but I didn't think it would hurt to post something about it...

Thanks,

Susan
