The St. Albans Messenger has a very insightful story on Abuse and signs of it when Leon Thompson interviews Gwen Gallup's Father.  A story well worth reading by clicking on the following link:

Wow, what a powerful and important newspaper article!  I hope a lot of people read it!  What a touching tribute from a father to a daughter, and to all daughters (and sons!)  Hopefully something good will come out of this father's story, even though it must be hard for him to tell it.  I passed on the article to the Community Safety Network in Jackson, WY where I volunteer and sometimes work.  The story is very relevant to the work they do to help people escape from abuse, and recognize the signs...especially of power and control.  Is there an education program that addresses this in high school?  At BFA Fairfax, or St. Albans?  I wonder if the shelter in St. Albans outreaches to high schools...anyone know?
