Just a reminder:  Our community Food Shelf, located at the United Church, on the corner of Fletcher and River Roads, is open to residents of Fairfax, Fletcher, and Westford.  We are open from 9-12 on the first two Wednesdays of the month.  Please share this information.   In case of an emergency need, I can be contacted.
We have been the blessed recipients of a great quantity of food collected at the Community Thanksgiving Service this past Sunday evening.  Other individuals, including the staff and faculty of the school, have been generous as well.

Current News & Events / CRAM THE COMPLEX
« on: October 17, 2008, 03:45:03 PM »
I have taken the liberty of copying this message from Angela Baker who is involved in planning for Operation Happiness.  For those who don't know, Operation Happiness prepares  Holiday  food boxes for over 500 Franklin County families.  The plans are to prepare at least 600 this year as the need is even greater.  Here in Fairfax I help distribute at least 25 boxes to residents of Fairfax and Fletcher.
  Rev. Elizabeth

The wheels are in motion for our CRAM THE COMPLEX food drive.  For those of you who may not be familiar with this effort, we plan to CRAM the Collins-Perley Sports Complex in St. Albans with donated healthy non-perishable food for distribution through Operation Happiness for families in FRANKLIN AND GRAND ISLE COUNTIES in need during this Holiday season. This event is being sponsored by the Franklin Grand Isle Community Partnership and the newly formed Franklin/Grand Isle Food Council.

The actual food collection will take place on Friday, December 5th from 3pm to 6pm and on Saturday, December 6th from 9am to 4pm.  Remember the collection that took place at the Complex during Hurricane Katrina? Our goal is replicate that community outreach effort.  All of the food collected will be moved to the St. Albans Armory on Sunday, December 7th in anticipation of being sorted and boxed for Operation Happiness which will start on Monday.

« on: May 13, 2008, 05:06:44 PM »
On Monday I was given as a donation to the food shelf,  a goodly number of grocery bags filled to overflowing.  These had been collected by mail carriers who deliver mail to individual homes.  On behalf of the  Fairfax, Fletcher, Westford food shelf  and my co-worker, Dot Root, I would like to thank everyone for their generosity.  Your kindness is deeply appreciated by us.

General Discussion / The Road Crew
« on: February 10, 2008, 02:25:04 PM »
As I walked the dog this Sunday morning, a town truck came by sanding the road.  It made me realize that those men have been working pretty much round the clock this week in miserable conditions.  I just want to let them all know that we appreciate what they do to kee the roads both open and safe!  They certainly are the unsung heroes of our community.  I mentioned it in church this morning during 'joys' and everyone nodded their heads in agreement!
Thank you all for a job well done!
