I just made this 2 sided bookshelf (3' tall x 2' deep x 4' long) for the daycare and was wondering what it is worth if I was to make them to sell. I am just curious what people would think it is worth. How much would you pay?

Hard to say off hand, but it looks solid and well built too.  I would say you could get easy 60-80 bucks maybe more to the right costumer never priced out short ones like that the taller 5'x3'x2' ones can go for 120 plus easy.

I've purchased many bookshelves and book bins for the Georgia Public Library, that were made by a carpenter in Highgate, but none anywhere near the same size or style of this one.  This shelf looks very nice.  I think easy $150.   It looks like it would be great storage for books and toys as well as being an attractive way to display them too.  Congrats, on a job well done!

I think it is beautiful and you would have to take into consideration many options. Size, wood, painted or stained and different trim. Custom pieces would be awesome. I had some built by Dave Day and they are beautiful. Both of you are very talented. Dave has done some top quality custom pieces in my house and I love them. Good luck.

It is easy to under estimate the cost of shelving.

To make this shelf it would take just under 2 sheets of plywood, 3/4 pine trim, fasteners, glue, bin, and a top coat of paint.

4 - 5 hours of labor each with painting

Materials, AC 3/4 plywood: $58.00, pine trim, 8.00, labor $100.00, bin & paint 20.00, brushes ect. 10.00

Hardwood plywood would cost more $45.00 per sheet at home depot 70.00 / sheet  at other lumber yards.

Total AC Plywood option: $196.00

It looks like it would need to sell for over $200.00

It is built with MDF, pine trim and luan center. Not being all set up it took about 9 hours build/paint time (most time on paint 1 primer, 3 paint). all joints are glued/fastened. It is a very strong piece of furniture (Had to be for daycare kids). Without a doubt it would last more than 200 years in a home. Just a hobby and if I can make a few bucks would be nice. It is only one both sides have shelving.

I have had the chance to build a thing or two around my house so I know how time consuming and expensive it can be.  I have not used mdf before, so I am unfamiliar with the cost.  Your work looks nice and the time spent painting shows.
